CAUTION: DO NOT USE SOLVENT OR HEAT TO THIN GREASE ON THE CONTROL CABLE.
_______ DO NOT USE SOLVENT TO CLEAN CONTROL CABLES. SOLVENT REMOVES GREASE FROM STRANDS INSIDE THE CABLE. DO NOT APPLY BMS 3-23 ON CABLES.

Use a lint-free cloth that is clean and dry to clean the control cable. Remove the old lubricant and all dirt from the surface of the control cable. Clean the control cable for the full length of travel through fairleads, air pressure seals, over pulleys, quadrants, and drums.

Lubricate the control cable.
CAUTION: THE CONTROL CABLES IN THE WING AND NACELLE AREA ARE NEAR
_______ HIGH TEMPERATURE SOURCES. DETERIORATION OF LUBRICANTS WILL OCCUR AT A FASTER RATE THAN ON OTHER CONTROL CABLES.
(a)
Soak a clean, lint-free cloth with a thin layer of grease.
(b)
Use the cloth to apply a thin layer of grease to the control cable for the full length of travel. Do not apply grease to the following because these areas will be greased sufficiently through cable movement:
-Clad areas
-
Through fairleads
-
Through air pressure seals
-
Over pulleys
-
Over quadrants
-
Over drums.
NOTE: The primary purpose of the application of grease on
____ the cable is for corrosion protection.

A. This procedure contains one task for lubrication of the support beam gate fitting.
(1) To lubricate a gate fitting these operations are necessary:
-Get access to the gate fitting
-Apply grease to the lube fitting.
