A. Position unit in mounting taking care to engage guide pins for proper mating of electrical connector.
B. Engage and tighten knurled clamp nut.
C. Close circuit breaker(s) opened in paragraph 3 above.
D. Test receiver/transmitter for satisfactory operation as follows:
(1) Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-00).
E. On AF, AT, GN, MD, VM airplanes, turn on LRRA system at appropriate height indicator.
F. On AZ ALL, LH 004-099, SN 351-399 and IB 406-499, for LRRA system 3, check that LRRA-3 fault annunciator on center instrument panel displays a valid (black) indication.

LRRA ANTENNAS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
____________________________________
1. General
_______
A. The LRRA antennas are installed in the wing-to-body fairing panel on the underside of the airplane. All antennas are identical.
2. Equipment and Materials
_______________________
A. Bonding Meter
B. Coating - Alodine, MIL-C-5541, Type II, Grade C, Class 1
C. Compound - Corrosion Inhibiting, BMS 3-27
D. Gloves, neoprene or rubber - Commercially available
E. Goggles - Commercially available
F. Primer - BMS 10-79, Type III
G. Respirator - Commercially available
H. Sealant - Aerodynamic, BMS 5-95, Class B 1/2
I. Solvent - Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), TT-M-261
3. Referenced Procedures
_____________________
A. AMM 24-22-00/201, Maintenance Practices (Apply Power)
B. AMM 51-21-04/701, Alodine Coating - Cleaning/Painting
C. AMM 51-31-01/201, Seals and Sealing
D. SWPM 20-20-00, Electrical Bonding and Grounding
4. Remove LRRA Antenna (Fig. 401)
___________________
A. Open ALTM LOW R1 and R2 circuit breakers on circuit breaker panel P7.
B. On LH 051-070, IB 406-499, open circuit breaker ALTM LOW R3 on circuit breaker panel P126.
C. Remove eight screws holding antenna to mounting ring.
D. Lower antenna until coaxial connector(s) accessible.
E. Remove lockwire installed between antenna connector(s) and coaxial cable connector(s), then disconnect cable from connector on antenna. Mark connectors to assure correct installation later.
5. Install LRRA Antenna (Fig. 401)
____________________
A. Clean the mating surfaces of the airplane structure and the antenna:
(1) Clean the airplane surface and antenna with solvent, Series 88 (Ref AMM/SOPM 20-30-88).
B. Apply a layer of alodine to the airplane and antenna mating surfaces.
C. Apply one very thin coat of BMS 3-27 (Mastinox) for corrosion prevention to the antenna baseplate.
NOTE: Make sure that the BMS 3-27 is very thin, because it is non conductive.
D. Connect coaxial cable(s) to antenna. Tighten and lockwire, as required.
E. Position antenna in mounting recess. Check that keying pin on antenna mates with keying pin hole in mounting ring.
F. Install seven of eight steel screws holding antenna to mounting ring and
tighten. XA On ALL EXCEPT AF airplanes, check that pointers (FWD/AFT) on the XA antenna show into the longitudinal axis of the airplane (Fig. 401) XA (AEB AF 34-249).
G. Disconnect antenna coaxial cable from R/T unit.
