(5) Remove the glide slope track antenna: (a) Disconnect the coaxial connectors to the antenna from the inner side of the aft nose gear door. The connector numbers are DB559 and DB559A for the left and center antenna and DB561 for the right antenna (b) Remove the nuts, washers and bolts that mount the glide slope track antenna to the aft nose gear door
CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE A SEALANT REMOVAL TOOL TO BREAK THE SEAL AROUND THE GLIDE SLOPE TRACK ANTENNA. TOO MUCH FORCE OR A DIFFERENT TOOL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR OR TO THE ANTENNA. (c) Break the seal around the glide slope track antenna (d) Pull the glide slope track antenna out of the aft nose gear door. 4. Glide Slope Track Antenna Installation (Fig. 401) A. General (1) There are two glide slope track antennas installed in the aft wheel well doors of the nose gear. The left and center dual glide slope track antenna (B559) is in the leading edge of the left door. The right dual glide slope track antenna (B561) is in the leading edge of the right door. (2) The installation procedures are the same for each antenna. B. Standard Tools and Equipment (1) Resistance measuring bridge or ohmmeter that can measure 0.010 ohm with an accuracy of |0.001 ohm (2) Spatula - fillet smoothing tool, hardwood or plastic C. Consumable Materials (1) A00247 Sealant - BMS 5-95, Class B-1/2 (2) B00316 Solvent - Aliphatic Naphtha TT-N-95 (3) C00032 Enamel - Ext Decor Protect, Gloss - BMS 10-60 (4) G00009 Corrosion Preventive Compound (Dow Corning No. 4) - BMS 3-23 (5) G00033 Woven Cheesecloth - BMS 15-5 D. (1) Make sure these circuit breakers are open with DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached: (a) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel 1) 7A6 NAV RADIO ILS L 2) 7B6 NAV RADIO ILS C 3) 7B17 NAV RADIO ILS R (2) Clean the mating surfaces of the antenna and aft nose gear door (AMM 20-11-14/701):
CAUTION: APPLY THE SOLVENT TO MATING SURFACES ONLY.
_______MAKE SURE YOU RUB OFF THE SOLVENT FROM OTHER SURFACES. IF THE SOLVENT STAYS ON A SURFACE FOR A LONG TIME, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE FINISH. (a) Apply aliphatic naphtha TT-N-95 solvent to the mating surfaces of the antenna and the airplane structure with a clean BMS 15-5 cloth. Use light pressure (AMM 51-21-03/701) (b) Use a clean cloth and clean the surface again (c) Do these two steps until the metal of the mating surfaces is bright, clean, and dry. (3) Apply a layer of BMS 3-23 corrosion-preventive compound to the mating surfaces (AMM 51-24-13/701). (4) Install the glide slope track antenna: (a) Put the glide slope track antenna into its position (b) Install the nuts, bolts, and washers to attach the glide slope track antenna to the aft nose gear door. (5) Measure the resistance between the antenna plate and the aft nose gear door (AMM 20-22-01/601). The resistance must be 0.01 ohm maximum. (a) Connect the coaxial connectors to the glide slope track antenna. (6) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: (a) P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel 1) 7A6 NAV RADIO ILS L 2) 7B6 NAV RADIO ILS C 3) 7B17 NAV RADIO ILS R (7) Test the glide slope antenna: (a) Do the Prepare for the System Test and the Glide Slope parts of the ILS System Test (AMM 34-31-00/501). (8) If electrical power is not necessary; Do this task to remove electrical power: Manual Control (AMM 24-22-00/201). (9) Complete the glide slope track antenna installation: (a) Apply the fillet of aerodynamic smoother around the bottom of glide slope track antenna. Use BMS 5-95, Class B-1/2 sealant (AMM 51-31-01/201)
