 2.  VHF Nav Control Panel
_____________________
 A.  Two VHF NAV control panels are located on the pilots' lightshield panel P10. DME system controls are also located on the control panel (Ref 34-55-00 D&O).
 B.  The panels provide manual VOR or localizer frequency selection. The glide slope receiver is automatically tuned when a localizer frequency is selected. Frequency control is in the 108.00- to 117.95-MHz range. Localizer frequencies extend from 108.10 MHz to 111.95 MHz, with 40 channels spaced at 50 kHz on the odd tenths megahertz. Glide slope frequencies range from 329.3 MHz to 335.0 MHz and are paired with the localizer frequencies. VOR frequencies also spaced at 50 kHz, extend from 108.00 to 118.00 MHz except for the localizer frequencies.
 C.  The larger knob of the frequency selector provides frequency selection in the units, tens and hundreds range. The smaller knob provides frequency selection in fractions (tenths and hundredths of an MHz).
 D.  The frequency indicator displays the operating frequency of the VOR or localizer circuits of the VOR/ILS receiver.

 E.  On XA ALL EXCEPT SN 351-399, the push-to-test button provides a self-test capability for the VOR/ILS receiver and associated displays or for the DME system as determined by setting of the system selector switch.
 F.  On SN 351-399, the control panel has a segmented light bar frequency display which will show 188.88 when the DISPLAY TEST switch is actuated. The UP/LT-DN/RT-VOR test switch provides a self-test for the VOR/ILS receiver and associated displays. In addition, the panel has INS APRCH, NORM, AUTO and MAN mode control switch/indicators. The NORM, INS APRCH and MAN modes have no restrictions on selection. The AUTO mode is overridden or inhibited with selection of INS APRCH, an ILS frequency or VOR receiver No. 3. In MAN mode, VOR/ILS and DME frequency selection is controlled by the concentric knobs on the control panel. In AUTO mode, frequency selection is controlled by the program loaded into the INS. The frequency displayed in the AUTO mode is that selected by the INS. Refer to INS, 34-41-00, for R-NAV and INS VOR/DME updating modes of operations.
 3.  VOR/ILS Receiver
________________
 A.  Three VOR/ILS receivers are installed on shelves E1-2 and E1-3 in the main equipment center. All interconnections are made through multi-pin connectors on the rear of the chassis. A test connector is also mounted on the rear of the unit for testing and fault analysis.
 B.  Bendix RNA-34A Receiver
 (1)
Each receiver contains planar construction-type circuit boards and an interconnect unit. The circuit boards consist of VOR/LOC and glide slope receiver assemblies with associated instrumentation, digital instrumentation and self-test circuit board assemblies, an RMI driver and a power supply. These assemblies process VOR, localizer and glide slope signals and provide outputs to drive deviation, flag and to-from flight instrument displays.

 (2)
The chassis provides the mounting surfaces for connectors, hinged front and side panels, and a center mounting frame.

 (3)
The hinged front panel supports an RMI driver board and the receiver power supply. The exterior surface of the panel also serves as a heat sink for the power supply.

 (4)
The hinged left and right side panels and the center mounting frame support the remaining VOR/ILS circuit boards and interconnecting circuits.

 C.  Collins 51RV-2B Receiver
 (1)
The VOR/ILS receivers contain four planar construction-type circuit boards and an interconnect unit. The front panel mounts three switches used to initiate self-test of the receiver.

 (2)
The VHF/NAV receiver circuit board consists of a VHF tuner and IF circuit an audio amplifier, a VOR/ILS test generator, and a regulated power supply.

 (3)
The VOR/LOC instrumentation circuit board consists of dual primary and monitor channels for automatic VOR operation, dual primary and secondary channels for manual VOR operation, and a sensor used for both VOR and localizer operation.

 (4)
The glide slope receiver circuit board consists of a glide slope receiver, glide slope instrumentation consisting of dual primary and secondary channels, a sensor, and a UHF synthesizer.

 (5)
The VHF synthesizer circuit board consists of oscillators, mixers, and integrated logic circuits.
