XA (4) Very the signal generator modulation controls to produce a 2-dot
XA fly-up indication on the captain's HSI. Disconnect No. 1 glide
XA slope antenna (position DB554C at G/S antenna hybrid STA 400, WL

XA needle returns to the center and that a glide slope flag appears on
XA the HSI.
XA 9. VOR/ILS Switch Test___________________

XA 10. Glide Slope Antenna Tuning__________________________
XA A. General
XA (1) This procedure is to be used for antenna tuning in situations when
XA a faulty antenna has been found per trouble shooting procedure
XA 34-31-12 or when a new antenna has been installed.
XA (2) For tuning in laboratory see Overhaul Manual 32-22-55.
XA B. Equipment and Materials
XA (1) Portable VSWR Meter
XA (2) Nose Landing Gear Lock
XA C. Prepare for Tuning
XA CAUTION:_______
XA
XA
XA
XA
TUNING MUST BE PERFORMED WITH:
-NOSE LANDING GEAR FORWARD DOORS CLOSED
-ALL ANTENNA CAVITY ACCESS DOOR SCREWS IN PLACE AND TIGHT
-ZONE WITHIN 5 FEET IN FRONT OF ANTENNA FREE OF METALLICOBJECTS
XA (1) Install nose gear door locks.
XA WARNING:_______ REFER TO 32-00-30 FOR LOCK INSTALLATION PROCEDURE - RAPID
XA ACTION OF DOORS MAY INJURE PERSONNEL OR DAMAGE EQUIPMENT
XA IF LOCKS ARE NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED.
XA (2) Open junction box J28 or J29 in nose gear wheel well.
XA (3) Install VSWR meter on a ladder so that it can be connected to
XA coaxial connector B3203 P or B3205 P. Connect VSWR meter to a
XA 115/220 Volts 50/60 Hz source.
XA D. Antenna Tuning
XA (1) Set VSWR meter frequency control to 332 MHz and calibrate VSWR
XA indicator.

XA (2) Adjust antenna tuning capacitor for minimum VSWR - Record VSWR.
XA (3) Repeat steps (1) and (2) for 329 and 335 MHz.
XA (4) Verify that:
XA - VSWR recorded in steps (1) (2) (3) do not exceed 6 : 1.
XA - Difference between VSWR at 329 MHz and 335 MHz does not exceed
