(3)
The radio bearing display on the RMI consists of two concentrically mounted pointers: one wide and one narrow. The two pointers display radio bearing information for two VOR stations with the compass card taken as reference. On each RMI, the captain's selected VOR data is displayed by the narrow pointer while the wide pointer displays the first officer's selected VOR data.
(4)
When the VOR/ILS receiver is tuned to an ILS frequency, the associated RMI bearing pointer is parked at a relative bearing of 90 degrees (3 o'clock position).
(5)
VOR warning flags appear when the VOR bearing data is unreliable or absent. A heading flag will also appear if the MHRS is not operational.
(6)
For additional description, operation, service and maintenance instructions applicable to the RMI, refer to 34-21-00, MHRS, 34-55-00, DME, and 34-57-00, ADF.
B. Horizontal Situation Indicator
(1)
Each of the captain's and first officer's intrument panels has a horizontal situation indicator (HSI). The HSI is a multifunction display instrument receiving inputs from and providing displays for several electronic systems installed on the airplane. Additional description, operation, service and maintenance instructions for the HSI are provided in 34-41-00, INS.
(2)
A radio or INS annunciator indicates the navigation system to which the HSI is connected. The annunciator displays a VOR/ILS indication when the VOR/ILS-INS switch is in the VOR/ILS position.
(3)
The to-from pointer indicates the direction of the tuned VOR ground station. If a valid VOR signal is lost, if the airplane is directly over the ground station, or if the VOR/ILS is tuned to an ILS frequency, the to-from pointer is out of view behind the course deviation scale.
(4)
The course deviation bar indicates the deviation from the selected course. With the airplane on course, the course deviation bar is aligned with the course arrow and tail. Either the VOR/ILS receiver or the INS controls the course deviation bar depending upon the instrument switching selection.
(5)
A navigation warning flag comes into view on the HSI when missing or invalid data is furnished from the VOR/LOC or from the INS, depending on which system is selected for navigation.
(6)
A glide slope deviation pointer in the HSI indicates the vertical deviations of the airplane from the glide path when approaches are being made. A GS flag comes into view when glide slope data is missing or unreliable. The glide slope pointer and flag are biased out of view during VOR operation and also when the VOR/ILS-INS switch is in the INS position.

(1)
Each of the captain's and first officer's instrument panels has an attitude director indicator (ADI). The ADI is a multifunction display instrument receiving inputs from and providing displays for several electronic systems. Additional description, operation, service, and maintenance instructions for the ADI are provided in 34-41-00, INS.
(2)
Glide slope deviation is presented by the glide slope pointer which moves above and below center. Similarly, a pointer at the bottom of the ADI moves left and right of center to indicate localizer deviation signals. The glide slope pointer and flag are biased out of view when operating in VOR or INS mode.
12. Relays and Switches
