 1.  General
_______
 A.  The VOR antenna is located beneath the vertical fin cap as shown in Fig. 401. The antenna is secured to the mounting structure by screws and has two coaxial cable connectors.

 B.  55-30-02, Fin Tip Removal/Installation
 3.  Remove VOR Antenna (Fig. 401)

 A.  On LH 001-013, 051-060, 082, 083; AF 101-120, 123-180, 183, 184, 191-198; AZ 221-225, 231-233, 281; SN 301-350; AT; GN; IB; MD; and VM airplanes not incorporating SB 55-2027, remove VOR antenna access panel from right-hand side of fin tip.
 B.  On LH 014-050, 061-081, 084-099; AF 121, 122, 181, 182, 185-190, 199; AZ 226-230, 234-280, 282-299; SN 351- 399, plus AF, AT, AZ, GN, IB, LH, MD, SN and VM airplanes incorporating SB 55-2027, remove fin tip to gain access to VOR antenna (Ref 55-30-02, Fin Tip Removal/Installation).
 C.  Remove 14 screws holding antenna to its support.
 D.  Lift and tip antenna to gain access to two coaxial connectors located beneath antenna toward its forward end.
 E.  Disconnect coaxial cables from VOR antenna and remove antenna from fin tip.
 4.  Install VOR Antenna (Fig. 401)

 A.  Position VOR antenna in fin tip.
 B.  Connect and hand-tighten two coaxial connectors and replace 14 screws which hold antenna to its support.
 C.  Check electrical bond between antenna and airplane structure per
 20-22-01. Resistance should not exceed 0.001 ohm.

 D.  On LH 001-013, 051-060, 082, 083; AF 101-120, 123-180, 183, 184, 191-198; AZ 221-225, 231-233, 281; SN 301-350; AT; GN; IB; MD; and VM airplanes not incorporating SB 55-2027, install VOR antenna access door on fin tip.
 E.  On LH 014-050, 061-081, 084-099; AF 121, 122, 181, 182, 185-190, 199; AZ 226-230, 234-280, 282-299; SN 351- 399, plus AF, AT, AZ, GN, IB, LH, MD, SN and VM airplanes incorporating SB 55-2027, install fin tip (Ref 55-30-02 R/I).
 F.  Test antenna for satisfactory operation as follows:
 (1)  
Disconnect coaxial connectors DB63A and DB64A from antenna switches No. 1 and No. 2.

 (2)  
Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-00).

 (3)  
Position AP/FD MSP mode selector to HDG.

 (4)  
Energize flight interphone system and VOR/ILS navigation systems No. 1 and No. 2.

 (5)  
Tune VOR/ILS navigation systems No. 1 and No. 2 to local VOR station and listen for identification code on flight interphone system.

 (6)  
Turn off flight interphone and VOR/ILS navigation systems.

 (7)  
Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-00).

 LOCALIZER ANTENNA - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  Two localizer antennas are located in the nose radome as shown in figure
 401. The lower localizer antenna is for VOR/ILS receivers 1 and 2 while VOR/ILS receiver 3 is fed from the upper localizer antenna. Each antenna is secured to the mounting structure by screws and has provisions for connecting two coaxial cables. The upper antenna has only one coaxial cable connected which is for VOR/ILS receiver 3.

 WARNING: CHECK THAT POWER IS OFF ON WEATHER RADAR AND ANTENNA IS NOT
_______ SCANNING TO AVOID CONTACT WITH HIGH-FREQUENCY RADAR SIGNALS OR PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH SCANNING ANTENNA.
 A.  Release six latches which secure nose radome using a 5/16-inch (Allen) wrench; depress each fastener and turn counterclockwise.
