Use the solvent and a wiping cloth to clean the surface of the insulation around the damaged area.

Repair the Damaged Insulation

Apply a minimum 2-inch wide patch of adhesive tape (BMS 5-149) to completely cover the damaged area on the insulation.
(a)
Make sure to apply a large enough patch to assure full coverage of the damaged area with a minimum 1/2-inch overlap.

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Reinstall the duct (if removed).

This procedure gives instructions to replace the insulation on air conditioning ducts with Polyimide foam insulation (BMS 8-300).

Consumable Materials
(1) Insulation - Polyimide Foam (BMS 8-300) ú (2) Tape - Pressure sensitive adhesive (BMS5-149, Type XI, Class 1, ú Grade C) (AMM 20-30-07/201) ú ú NOTE:____Do not use the BMS 5-149 tape made by the Orcon Corporation ú with the BMS 8-300 polyimide foam insulation material. Only ú the BMS 5-149 tape made by E&H Laminating & Slitting Company ú is compatible with the BMS 8-300 polyimide foam insulation ú material. ú
