(4) If you replace the tab, install the tab drive control-rod (73) at the track 2 position: (Ref. Fig. 415/TASK 27-54-61-991-029)
(a)
Connect the tab drive control-rod (73) with the bolt (74), the washers (75) and (72) and the nut (71).
(b)
TORQUE the nut (71) to between 2.2 and 2.4 m.daN (16.22 and 17.69 lbf.ft).
(c) Safety the nut (71) with the new cotter pin (70). Subtask 27-54-61-420-086
B. Installation of the Tab to the Flap
(Ref. Fig. 414/TASK 27-54-61-991-027)
CAUTION : MAKE SURE THAT THE DISCONNECTED PARTS DO NOT TOUCH AND/OR CATCH
_______ THE ADJACENT STRUCTURE WHEN YOU MOVE THE TAB. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE FLAP.
(1)
Put the tab in position at the track 2, the hinge 1A and the hinge 1B.
(2)
Engage the tab drive control-rod (45) with the flap track 2 carriage. Do not connect at this time.
(3)
Move the tab forward and install the DISTANCE GAUGES (98D27504114000) at the hinge 1A and the track 2 positions.
(4)
At the track 2 position:
(Ref. Fig. 415/TASK 27-54-61-991-029)
(a)
Install the sliding bush (54).
(b)
Temporarily connect the rear strut (53) with the bolt (49), the washers (50) and(55) and the nut (57).
(c)
Temporarily install the eccentric bolt (69), the washer (64) and the nut (63).
NOTE : Make sure that the punch marks are in the same position
____ that you wrote down when the tab was removed.

(5)
At the hinge 1A position:
(Ref. Fig. 414/TASK 27-54-61-991-027)
(a)
Temporarily connect the forward strut (39) with the bolt (40), the washers (41) and (36) and the nut (35).
(b)
Install the sliding bush (27).
(c)
Temporarily connect the rear strut (24) with the bolt (26), the washers (25) and (21) and the nut (20).
(6)
Use a straight-edge to check:
(a)
That the flap and the tab trailing edges inboard of the hinge 1A position are aligned.
(b)
That the tab upper-surface contour and the flap trailing edge are aligned.
(7)
If necessary, adjust the length of the rear strut (24) and the forward strut (39) until the flap and the tab are correctly aligned:
(a)
Remove and discard the lockwire from the nuts (23) and (38).
(b)
Loosen the nuts (23) and (38).
(c)
Remove the nut (20), the washers (21) and (25) and the bolt (26).
(d)
Remove the nut (35), the washers (36) and (41) and the bolt (40).
(e)
Adjust the length of the rear strut (24) and the forward strut
(39)
as necessary, until the tab and flap are aligned. This is when:
-
the flap and the tab trailing edges inboard of the hinge 1A position are aligned
-
the tab upper-surface contour and the flap trailing edge are aligned.
(8)
Install the bolt (26), the washers (25) and (21) and the nut (20).
(9)
Install the bolt (40), the washers (41) and (36) and the nut (35).
(10)
Do a check through the safety hole and make sure that the threads of the eye-ends (22) and (37) are in safety.
(11)
Tighten the nuts (23) and (38) and safety with MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-010).
