isolation. It must be an "ISOLATED" type, such as
a battery-operated one, for fault isolation on the
A4 card.

Ceramic Alignment
Screwdriver or
Flat-Blade
Screwdriver (C/A)
Use this to turn VR201 and VR202 (variable
resistors) on the A2 card and VR501 and VR502 on
the A8 card. We recommend to use a ceramic
alignment screwdriver (all insulating material) to
prevent accidental damage to the A2, A5 and A8
cards.

VMU Tester,
RD-AX8308
(Panasonic)
It gives the electrical connections between the VMU
and the test equipment or other units. AC power of
115 V, 400 Hz is supplied to the VMU through the
VMU tester. Refer to Figure 101 for the front and
rear views of the VMU tester.
T&FI-2
Test Harness,
RD-AM9341-02
(Panasonic)
It connects the VMU to the VMU tester. Refer to
the OMM TZZX830800 for full data on this harness.
T&FI-2
Serial Port Adapter
(accessory of test
harness,
RD-AM9341-02)
25P to 9P serial port adapter. This adapter is
necessary only if the PC's COM1 or COM2 port
connector is a 9-pin type (DB-9M).
T&FI-2
Personal Computer
(C/A)
IBM PC/AT or compatible system with:
· 1.44-MB 3.5-inch floppy disk drive
· COM1 or COM2 serial port available for testing
· Windows 95 or 98 as operating system
· VGA color monitor
· Keyboard.

VMU Tester Software
(Ver. 1.00),
MD2HD256199A
(Panasonic)
A 1.44-MB 3.5-inch floppy disk that contains one
self-extracting file "VMUTESTER.EXE". The disk is
supplied as an accessory of the tester.

NTSC or PAL Video
Pattern Generator
(C/A)
This unit is necessary as a video source for the
modulation depth adjustment with the requirements
as follows:
· 50-W or 75-W output impedance
· 100% white raster (or other pattern that contains
100% white part)
· Color-bar pattern
· Variable output with a center value of 1 Vp-p
into 50-W or 75-W load.
T&FI-2
Impedance
Converter,
RD-AM8285
(Panasonic)
This unit is necessary if the video pattern
generator has an output impedance of 75 W. The
impedance converter operates on 115 V, 400 Hz.
Refer to Figure 102A for the front and rear views
of the impedance converter.
T&FI-2
Impedance Selector,
RD-AM8285-01
(Panasonic)
This unit gives an output impedance selection of
50 W, 75 W or 100 W for a video signal source with
an output impedance of 50 W. Refer to Figure 102B
for the front and rear views of the impedance
selector.
T&FI-2
Spectrum Analyzer
(C/A)
It has a 50-W unbalanced input and is good for
measurement of VHF carrier signals from 100 to
110 dBmV (precision of ±0.3 dB or better) in level
and from 130 to 330 MHz in frequency.
T&FI-2
BNC 50-W Terminator
(C/A)
Three sets are necessary to give termination for
three RF outputs of the VMU. Each must be 0.5 W or
more in rating.
T&FI-2
20-dB RF Attenuator
(C/A)
Type good for VHF applications, 50 W input
impedance, 0.5 W or greater. It must give an
attenuation of approximately 20 dB for the VMU
tuner.

VMU Tuner,
RD-AX8308-01
(Panasonic)
This unit tunes to one of the RF video carriers
from the VMU and makes demodulation of the RF video
(NTSC or PAL). It gives a calibrated video output
(1 Vp-p for 87.5% modulation) to measure and adjust
the modulation depth of the RF video signal. Refer
to Figure 102 for more data on the VMU tuner.
NOTE: As an alternative for this unit, you can use
your RF video receiving equipment (Toshiba
TT-GC9 or TT-GC10 TV tuner, video cassette
recorder, etc.) that you use for testing of
the VMUs. The video output of the RF video
receiving equipment must be calibrated with a
standard signal generator. The tolerance is
1 Vp-p ± 1% into a specified load (50 or
75 W) for an RF video input modulated 87,5%
with 100% white video.
