E. Fault Isolation Procedure for Communication Error
Do the procedure given below after you do the fault isolation procedure
for power supply (D.) to make sure that the UUT's power circuits are
satisfactory.

E-1 Prepare the UUT to get access to A1IC104. Set the
tester's POWER switch to ON and monitor the data input at
pin 13 of A1IC104.
Is there a data signal at pin 13 of A1IC104 when you see
the "USER CONFIGURATION" window? E-3 E-2
E-2 There is an open- or short-fault in the RS-232C data
input line. --- ---
E-3 Monitor the data output at pin 14 of A1IC104. Click on
the "CONTINUE" button" of the "COMMUNICATION ERROR" box
to start the data communication.
Is there a data signal at pin 14 of A1IC104? E-4 E-5
E-4 There is an open- or short-circuit fault in the RS-232C
data output line. --- ---
E-5 Do the same check as STEP E-1 at pin 12 of A1IC104. If
there is no data signal at pin 12 of A1IC104, replace
A1IC104.
If there is a data signal at pin 12 of A1IC104, do the
same check as STEP E-3 at pin 11 of A1IC104.
If there is no data signal at pin 11 of A1IC104, go to
Fault Isolation Procedure for Microcontroller (F.).
Replace A1IC104 if there is a data signal at its pin 11.

A1IC102 pin 40 or 41? F-3 F-2
F-2 If +5V is applied to pins 34, 35, 36, 39 and 42 of
A1IC102, A1X101 is possibly defective.

G. Fault Isolation Procedure for A2 Card Failure
For easy identification of the problem, we use an example in the
procedure that the modulator status is "FAIL" for CH5.

G-1 If the modulator status is "FAIL" for CH5, replace the
CH5 A2 card with one of the other A2 cards.
Is the status "FAIL" for the same channel?
G-9 G-2
G-2 Put the A2 cards back to their initial positions. A
fault is on the CH5 A2 card.
Is there a clock signal at pin 4 of A2IC204? G-4 G-3
G-3 Examine the CK input circuit (A2Q202) to find a fault. --- ---
G-4 Is there a data signal at pin 3 of A2IC204? G-6 G-5
G-5 Examine the DT input circuit (A2Q202) to find a fault. --- ---
G-6 Is A2IC204 pin 20 output L? G-7 G-8
G-7 Examine the LD output line for an open-circuit fault. --- ---
G-8 Examine the PLL frequency synthesizer circuit to find a
fault. --- ---
G-9 There is an open- or short-circuit fault of the DT05,
CK05 or LD05 line on the A5 or A1 card. --- ---
