VMU Tester,
RD-AX8308 (Panasonic)
It gives the electrical connections between the VMU and
the test equipment or other units. AC power of 115 V,
400 Hz is supplied to the VMU through the VMU tester.
Refer to Figure 101 for the front and rear views of the
VMU tester.
Test Harness,
RD-AM9341 (Panasonic)
It connects the VMU to the tester.
Test Harness,
RD-AM9341-01
(Panasonic)
Use this for functional testing of VMUs RD-AA5002-23 and
RD-AA5002-25. This test harness has a BNC female
connector at one end, a 100-W resistor in the middle,
and a BNC male connector at the other end.
Impedance Converter,
RD-AM8285 (Panasonic)
This unit is necessary if the video pattern generator has
an output impedance of 75 W. The impedance converter
operates on 115 V, 400 Hz. Refer to Figure 102A for the
front and rear views of the impedance converter.
Impedance Selector,
RD-AM8285-01
(Panasonic)
This unit gives an output impedance selection of 50 W,
75 W or 100 W for a video signal source with an output
impedance of 50 W. Refer to Figure 102B for the front
and rear views of the impedance selector.
VMU Tester Software,

A 1.44-MB 3.5-inch floppy disk that contains one
executable file "VMUTEST.EXE". The disk is supplied as

It connects the tester's RS232C I/F connector to the COM1
connector of a personal computer. It must have a 25-pin
connector on the tester side.
NTSC or PAL Video
Pattern Generator

This unit is necessary as a video source for the
modulation depth adjustment with the requirements as
follows:
· 50-W or 75-W output impedance
· 100% white raster (or other pattern that contains 100%
white part)
· Color-bar pattern
· Variable output with a center value of 1 Vp-p into
50-W or 75-W load.
Spectrum Analyzer
(C/A)
It has a 50-W unbalanced input and is good for
measurement of VHF carrier signals from 100 to 110 dBmV
(precision of ±0.3 dB or better) in level and from 130
to 330 MHz in frequency.
VMU Tuner,
RD-AX8308-01
(Panasonic)
This unit tunes to one of the RF video carriers from the
VMU and makes demodulation of the RF video (NTSC or PAL).
It gives a calibrated video output (1 Vp-p for 87.5%
modulation) to measure and adjust the modulation depth of
the RF video signal. Refer to Figure 102 for more data
on the VMU tuner.
NOTE: As an alternative for this unit, you can use your
RF video receiving equipment (Toshiba TT-GC9 or
TT-GC10 TV tuner, video cassette recorder, etc.)
that you use for testing of the VMUs. The video
output of the RF video receiving equipment must be
calibrated with a standard signal generator. The
tolerance is 1 Vp-p ± 1% into a specified load (50
or 75 W) for an RF video input modulated 87,5%
with 100% white video.
NTSC or PAL Video
Monitor (C/A)
This unit receives the composite color video signal from
the VMU tuner and shows color pictures. The input
impedance must be 75 W (±1%).
NOTE: If you use your RF video receiving equipment for
VMU testing (Toshiba TT-GC9 or TT-GC10 TV tuner,
video cassette recorder, etc.), the monitor must be
the one that is connected to your receiving
