H. Fault Isolation Procedure for A2 Card Failure
For easy identification of the problem, we use an example in the
procedure that the modulator status is "FAIL" for CH5.
NEXT STEP IF
STEP CHECK/POSSIBLE FAULT
YES NO
H-1 If the modulator status is "FAIL" for CH5, replace the
CH5 A2 card with one of the other A2 cards.
Is the status "FAIL" for the same channel?
H-9 H-2
H-2 Put the A2 cards back to their initial positions. A
fault is on the CH5 A2 card.
Is there a clock signal at pin 4 of A2IC204? H-4 H-3
H-3 Examine the CK input circuit (A2Q202) to find a fault. --- ---
H-4 Is there a data signal at pin 3 of A2IC204? H-6 H-5
H-5 Examine the DT input circuit (A2Q202) to find a fault. --- ---
H-6 Is A2IC204 pin 20 output L? H-7 H-8
H-7 Examine the LD output line for an open-circuit fault. --- ---
H-8 Examine the PLL frequency synthesizer circuit to find a
fault. --- ---
H-9 There is an open- or short-circuit fault of the DT05,
CK05 or LD05 line on the A5 or A1 card. --- ---

6. Adjustments
Do the adjustment procedures given below as necessary and as continued from
the functional testing. You can do each adjustment procedure independently.
A. Disassembly Necessary for Adjustments
(1) Do not set the tester's POWER switch to OFF if you adjust the RF
levels.
(2) Disassemble as follows:
ADJUSTMENT DISASSEMBLY
RF levels and/or
modulation depth
Remove the top cover assembly [1-10].
Output level of internal
video signal generator
Put the UUT with its top down, then remove the
bottom cover [1-35].
B. RF Levels
If it is necessary to adjust the RF level of a modulator channel, we
recommend that you adjust the RF levels of all modulator channels as
given below.
(1) Use the same setup as the functional test setup (Figure 111).
(2) RF Output Connections
(a) Connect the RF OUTPUT RF1 connector of the tester to the input
of the spectrum analyzer with an RF cable (RFC1).
(b) Connect BNC 50-W terminators to the RF OUTPUT RF2, RF3 and RF4
connectors of the tester.
(3) Disconnect the BNC tee adapter T1 from the tester (no modulation).
(4) Start the adjustment mode (ref. 5.B.).
(5) The user configuration is initially shown. If the frequencies are
not in the range from 151.25 to 283.25 MHz at intervals of 12 MHz,
click on the "FACTORY SETTING" button to set this frequency range.
(6) Make sure that the UUT is energized for more than 2 hours.
