Oscilloscope (C/A) DC to 40 MHz, precision of ±3% for 1 Vp-p video signal
measurements.
20-dB RF Attenuator
(C/A)
Type good for VHF applications, 50 W input impedance,
0.5 W or greater. It must give an attenuation of
approximately 20 dB for the VMU tuner.
BNC 50-W Terminator
(C/A)
Three sets are necessary to give termination for three RF
outputs of the VMU. Each must be 0.5 W or more in
rating.
RF Cable (C/A) BNC-BNC 50-W coaxial cable. Three sets are necessary
(RFC1 thru RFC3).
Video Cable (C/A) BNC-BNC coaxial cable. Two sets are necessary (VC1 and
VC2). The cable impedance can be 50 or 75 W.
BNC Tee Adapter (C/A) Two sets are necessary (T1 and T2).
Monitor Cable (C/A) One set is necessary to connect the output (BNC) of the
VMU tuner to the input of the video monitor.
CPU Extension Card,
RD-AM9357-1

It connects to the A5 card and gives an extended
connection for the A1 card for fault isolation.
Modulator Extension
Card,
RD-AM9357-2
(Panasonic)
It connects to the A5 card and gives an extended
connection for the A2 card for fault isolation.
Power Extension Card,

(Panasonic)
It connects to the A5 card and gives an extended
connection for the A4 card for fault isolation.
Volt-Ohm-Milliammeter
(VOM) or Digital
Multimeter (DMM)
(C/A)
Use a VOM or DMM for continuity check and fault
isolation. It must be an "ISOLATED" type, such as a
battery-operated one, for fault isolation on the A4 card.
Ceramic Alignment
Screwdriver or
Flat-Blade
Screwdriver (C/A)
Use this to turn VR201 and VR202 (variable resistors) on
the A2 card and VR501 and VR502 on the A8 card. We
recommend to use a ceramic alignment screwdriver (all
insulating material) to prevent accidental damage to the
A2, A5 and A8 cards.

1 POWER switch This switch controls the primary AC power of 115 V, 400 Hz
to the VMU.
2 VIDEO INPUT
connectors,
CH1 thru CH12
and TEST
The baseband composite video signals are applied to the
video inputs of the VMU through these BNC connectors.
3 RF OUTPUT
connectors,
RF1 thru RF4
The RF outputs from the VMU are available at these BNC
connectors. The RF output impedance of the VMU is 50 W.
4 TO VMU
connectors,
RF1 thru RF4,
J1 and J2
The RD-AM9341 test harness is connected to these connectors.
5 RS232C I/F
connector
This connector is connected to the COM1 connector of a
personal computer (PC) with an RS-232C cable of null-modem
type. The PC is necessary to set the picture carrier
frequencies.
6 TX, RX and
GND terminals
These terminals are installed to monitor the serial data
communication between the VMU and a personal computer PC).
The TX terminal gives the VMU's data output to the PC. The
RX terminal gives the PC's transmit data output. The GND
terminal connects to the signal ground line.

7 3-A circuit
breaker
This circuit breaker is for protection of the primary power
line to the VMU.
8 Power
connector
This connector is connected to an AC source of 115 V, 400 Hz
through the power supply cord.
