e) Remove the cowling under hull and inspect the front, main and rear attachment fitting bolts of the wings.
f) Open the lower surface doors and inspect the internal structure.
10) Fuselage
NOTE : Inspect the fuselage front third with particular care.
a) Detect distortion, waviness, wrinkles and check the condition of the riveting (paint film alligatoring, loose or missing rivets) :
- on firewall and frame No. 0, power plant and fuselage sides, especially attachments of front table and console sides on firewall (if necessary, unstick sound-proofing liner),
- on front floor aft of frame No. 0 (after removal of the mats),
- on fuselage sides between frames No. 0 and No. 4.
b) Inspect the external frames of all openings (exits, doors, windows) for cracks or distortion.
11) Stabilizers
a) Check the external skin of stabilizers and control surfaces.
b) Perform a complete maneuver of the control surfaces and tabs (full deflection) ; listen for unusual noises, check for friction points or interference.
c) Watch the stabilators to ensure that they move smoothly.
12) Electrical power
Open the battery compartment and check that the battery is correctly attached and that no electrolyte has been spilled.
13) Avionics, radionavigation / communication
a) Check that all components are correctly mounted in their supports.
b) Check all antennas and their attachments.
14) Operational test of landing gear retraction
a) Disconnect the doors and perform a landing gear retraction. Watch each leg to ensure that it moves smoothly.
b) After landing gear retraction, check that each wheel rotates freely and check the clearance in the landing gear well.
c) Extend the landing gear. Watch the movement. Check that the indicator lights operate correctly and that the landing gear locks in down position.
d) Check that the ground safety microswitch operates correctly.
e) Retract the landing gear with the doors connected. Watch the movement.
f) Check that the doors close correctly and without stress.
g) Extend the landing gear using the emergency system.
NOTE : The "second-level" investigation must be carried out if structural or operational defects are detected during the "first-level" investigation. Otherwise, lower the aircraft to ground - refer to 07-10-00.
D. "Second-level" investigation
1) Locate and remove the defective component(s) for general overhaul.
2) Locate and determine structural damage detected during the "first-level" investigation.
3) Check the geometry of the airframe.
4) Check the linkage and cable tension for all flight controls.
5) Remove the main and nose landing gears, replace all hinge pins and carry out a magnetic particle inspection and check for distortion. Check bores, bushes for alignment and out-of-roundness.
