 201-299, 401-499, Aug 01/05 CES D. Test

 (1) Read all of this paragraph before you continue or do the applicable work steps.
NOTE : When the wing-tank fuel pumps are in operation, there is a
____ continuous flow of fuel (approximately 450 kg (1000 lb) per hour) to the scavenage jet pumps in the outer-cells. This is more than sufficient to keep the outer-cells full. When an outer-cell is full, the (more than necessary) fuel returns to the inner-cell through the spill pipe.
 (2) Set, or make sure that, the aircraft fuel load on the related side is as follows (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-790-001):
 - Outercell - Full

 - Innercell - Not more than a maximum of 3000 kg (6620 lb)

 - Center Tank - Not Applicable.

NOTE : The calculated outer-cell fuel quantities (given in Para.
____ 4.A.) are only applicable if the surface level of the fuel in the inner-cell is lower than the bottom of Rib 15 at the end of the test. That is correct if the inner-cell fuel load is set as specified or less. The reference given is for if you want to defuel the inner-cell to empty.
 (3) On the ECAM FUEL System Display page, monitor the Fuel On Board (FOB) and each of the tank (cell) FQIs. Make a record of the applicable outer-cell final FQI value. The final outer-cell FQI value can give an indication of the fuel leak location for use in Para. 4.A.
NOTE : The smallest movement (resolution) of the ECAM FQI digital
____ display is 10 kg (20 lb). It is possible for the FQI displays to change, move up or down 10 kg (20 lb) when the aircraft is in a level attitude (with no movement).
 - if all the FQIs remain the same and stable, for an acceptable period, no work steps are necessary
NOTE : Acceptable period definitions are given at the end of this
____
 test.

 - if there is a decrease of the outer-cell FQI equal to an increase of the related inner-cell FQI, do Para. 4.A.

 - if the unserviceable wing shows a decrease of the outer-cell FQI (equal to the sum of an increase of the inner-cell FQIs in the same wing and the other wing) do Refuel Gallery - Uncommanded Fuel Transfer From One Wing To The Other Wing (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-810-810)

NOTE : This TSM procedure tries to identify if there is a defective
____ VALVE-AIR INLET (161QM) (VALVE-AIR INLET (162QM)) that stays
 「一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一1R EFF : 001-049, 051-099, 101-149, 151-199, ∞∞28-15-00∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞Page 252
201-299, 401-499, Aug 01/05 CES in the open positon. This lets the related outer-cell fuel move into the refuel gallery. Gravity, and the attitude of the aircraft can cause this fuel to flow (to the down side) through the drain valve 31QM (32QM) into the left and/or right wing inner-cell.

 - if the unserviceable wing shows a decrease of the outer-cell FQI and the FOB decreases an equal FQI, do the Leak Test with Fuel of the Wing-Tank Outer-Cell (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-790-001)
NOTE : This shows an external fuel leak.
____

 - if there is an unwanted transfer from the left wing tank to the center tank, do (Ref. TASK 28-12-00-810-801)
NOTE : An unwanted quantity of fuel has possibly collected in the
____ left vent surge tank because its return system has failed. When the surface level of this fuel is above the center-tank vent-pipe outlet, gravity causes it to flow into the center tank.
 - if there is an unwanted internal leak (transfer) which causes a fuel imbalance or discharge from a NACA vent during taxi or flight, do (Ref. TASK 28-21-00-810-825).
NOTE : This TSM procedure is about a possible defective VALVE-AIR
____ RELEASE, L WING TK (86QM) (VALVE-AIR RELEASE, R WING TK (87QM)).
 Acceptable Period Definitions

 Acceptable Period 1
Changes in FQIs will let you see if there is a leak or transfer.
If the original (unwanted) transfer is 10 kg(20 lb)/minute) you will
need to monitor the outer and inner-cell FQIs for ten minutes. The
slower the leakage rate the longer the monitor time necessary to make
sure that you can see (detect) its effect.

Acceptable Period 2 (For a small leakage rate)
If it is operationally possible, let the aircraft stay in a level
attitude overnight and then do (repeat) step (2) the next morning (or
 alternatively after eight hours).
