R A. Test
R NOTE : The function of the overpressure protector 46QM(47QM) is to____
R protect the left(right) wing surge-tank structure from possible
R damage.
R The operation of the overpressure protector 46QM(47QM) will safely
R release the (unwanted) pressure directly to the atmosphere.
R The defects that follow (and/or) can cause the overpressure
R protector 46QM(47QM) break/operate:
R - the surge tank vent duct is blocked
R - the surge tank flame arrestor is blocked
R - the surge tank NACA intake is blocked.
R A blockage as given above/before can cause the overpressure
R protector to break/operate because the normal ventilation path was
R not able to release the unwanted pressure (quickly or
R sufficiently) safely to the atmosphere.

Aug 01/05 CESR (1) Do the Inspection of the Overpressure Protector 46QM(47QM) (Ref. AMM R TASK 28-12-41-200-003).
R (a) If the overpressure protector 46QM(47QM): R R - and the related items are as specified, no more troubleshooting R work steps are necessary R R - safety disc has operated (is broken or damaged), and/or the R related items are not as specified (example, corroded, wire R mesh damaged), do Para. 4.A.
R NOTE : The overpressure protector 46QM(47QM) is only included as
____
R a Possible Cause in this TSM procedure.
R 4. Fault Isolation_______________
R A. Procedure
R NOTE : Read all of the steps in this paragraph before you start work.
____ R The order in which the work steps are done is best decided by the R maintenance staff together with: R - other malfunction indications R - the fuel configuration R - the aircraft location.
R (1) If the (frangible) overpressure protector 46QM(47QM) has operated (is R broken), it is important to do all the steps that follow to find what R caused it to break.
R NOTE : The reasons why a burst disc can break are as follows:
____ R R - a defective/unserviceable disk (non standard) R that breaks below the (its) correct operating pressure R R - a serviceable disk that operated because the pressure R difference between the center tank and the adjacent left R wing tank was more than the correct safe operating pressure R (Ref. AMM 28-12-00 P.Block 001).
R (2) Do an Inspection of the Tank Venting System items that follow (Ref. R AMM TASK 28-12-00-200-001):
