R NOTE : Read all of the steps in this paragraph before you start work.
____
R The order in which the work steps are done is best decided by the
R maintenance staff together with:
R - other malfunction indications
R - the fuel configuration
R - the aircraft location.
R (1) If the (frangible) overpressure protector 96QM has operated (is R broken), it is important to do all the steps that follow to find what R caused it to break.
R NOTE : The reasons why a burst disc can break are as follows:
____
R
R - a defective/unserviceable disk (non standard)
R that breaks below the (its) correct operating pressure
R
R - a serviceable disk that operated because the pressure
R difference between the center tank and the adjacent left
R wing tank was more than the correct safe operating pressure
R (Ref. AMM 28-12-00 P.Block 001).

R (2) Do a check of the applicable fuel tanker or fuel hydrant hose end
R pressure.
R (a) If the fuel pressure is more than 50psi (3.45bar):
R
R - change the fuel pressure (if possible) or
R
R - get another source of fuel supplied at the correct pressure.
R NOTE : If the fuel tanker or fuel hydrant hose end pressure is____
R more than the maximum safe pressure, it can cause:
R - a refuel valve that has been commanded to shut, to stay
R open
R - a overpressure protector (burst disc) to operate
R - damage to the refuel gallery.
R (3) Do a check of the center tank refuel valve 10QU as follows:
R (a) Remove the center tank refuel valve 10QU (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-51-
R 000-002).
R (b) Do a visual inspection of the refuel valve 10QU, valve position.
R 1_ If the valve is (stays) in the open position, replace the
R VALVE-REFUEL, CTR TK (10QU) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-51-000-002)
R and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-51-400-002).
R 2_ If the valve is in the closed position (or if the valve is
R replaced in step 1_) do an operational test of the center tank
R refuel valve 10QU (to see if it can open and close) (Ref. AMM
R TASK 28-25-00-710-003).
R 3_ If there is any malfunction of the refuel valve 10QU (and/or
R related sub-systems) refer to the Troubleshooting Fault
R Symptoms List, for the related Task number. Do the necessary
R troubleshooting.
R (4) Do an Inspection of the Tank Venting System (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-00-
R 200-001) (the center-tank vent-pipe). Replace, if necessary, all
R sections that are unserviceable (example, damaged or blocked).
R (5) Do a check of the pressure relief valve 97QM as follows:
R (a) Get access to the pressure relief valve 97QM (Ref. AMM TASK 28-
R 25-45-000-001).
R (b) Do a visual check of the pressure relief valve 97QM to see if it:
R - has become blocked
R - can open (functionally operate) with a full and free movement.
