Installation of the Ground Auxiliary Power Control
Unit (GAPCU) (24XG)
R (1) On the ELEC panel 35VU, do a check of the position of the BUS TIE
R pushbutton switch (10XU) when the CFDS message PB SW BUS TIE (10XU)/
R GAPCU (24XG) comes into view.
R (a) If the BUS TIE pushbutton switch (10XU) is released:
R - stop the trouble shooting.
R (b) If the BUS TIE pushbutton switch (10XU) is pushed:
R - do the BITE test of the GAPCU (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-740-002).
R 1_ If the BITE test gives the message TEST FAILED:
R - do the trouble shooting given in Para 4.A.
R 2_ If the BITE test gives the message TEST PASSED:
R - do the trouble shooting given in Para 4.B.

R A. If the BITE test gives the message TEST FAILED:
R - push the line key adjacent to the TEST FAILED message.
R (1) If the maintenance message GAPCU (24XG) comes into view:
R - replace the GAPCU (24XG) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-34-000-001) and (Ref.
R AMM TASK 24-41-34-400-001).
R B. If the BITE test gives the message TEST PASSED:
R - do a check of the wiring of the 1553 data bus (Ref. ASM 24-23/02) for
R an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to shield or a short
R circuit between:
R . pin A/6J of the GCU 1 and pin A/11E of the GAPCU
R . pin A/6H of the GCU 1 and pin A/12E of the GAPCU
R . pin A/6J of the GCU 2 and pin A/11F of the GAPCU
R . pin A/6H of the GCU 2 and pin A/12F of the GAPCU.
R (1) If the wiring is not correct:
R - repair or replace as necessary.
R (2) If the wiring is correct:
R - replace the GCU-1 (1XU1) and the GCU-2 (1XU2) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-22-
R 34-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-22-34-400-001).
R C. Do the test given in para. 3.

R A. If the CFDS POST FLIGHT REPORT or the EPGS GROUND REPORT gives the
R maintenance message IDGx(Ex-4000XU)OIL LEVEL SENSOR/GCUx(1XUx):
R - replace the GCUx (Ref. AMM TASK 24-22-34-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK
R 24-22-34-400-001) and send the faulty GCU to Hamilton Sundstrand for
R investigation .
R (1) If the fault continues:
R - do a check of the wiring and make sure that the pin AA/5E of the
