R A. If the fault symptom is identified by the CFDS message GEN APU (8XS) EX
R FLD/ GAPCU (24XG) and the upper ECAM-DU warning APU GEN FAULT:
R - do the check of the resistance of the APU generator exciter-field (Ref.
R ASM 24-23/01) between:
R . pins A/9 and A/10 of the APU generator (7.67 ohms plus or minus 0.73
R ohms)
R - do a check of the wiring for a short-circuit between:
R . pin A/9 of the APU generator and APU generator case
R . pin A/10 of the APU generator and APU generator case.
R NOTE : Do the check:
____ R - GTCP 36-300: for metal contamination of the lube filter element R (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-45-200-002) and the alternator scavenge R filter element (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-41-200-001). R or R - APS 3200: for metal contamination of the pressure oil filter R element (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-41-920-001) and the AC-generator R scavenge filter element (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-41-200-002). R or R - 131-9(A): for metal contamination of the oil filters (Ref. AMM R TASK 49-91-41-200-002).
R (1) If the resistance values are out of the specified limits:
R - replace the GEN-APU (8XS) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-23-51-000-001) and
R (Ref. AMM TASK 24-23-51-400-001).
R (2) If the resistance values are in the specified limits:
R - do a check of the wiring (Ref. ASM 24-23/01) for a short to ground,
R a short circuit or an open circuit between:
R . pin A/9 of the APU generator and pin C/12 of the GAPCU
R . pin A/10 of the APU generator and pin C/13 of the GAPCU
R . pin C/7 and pins C/12, C/13 of the GAPCU.
R (a) If the wiring is not correct:
R - repair or replace as necessary.
R (b) If the wiring is correct:
R - replace the GAPCU (24XG) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-34-000-001) and
R (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-34-400-001).
R 1_ If the fault continues:
R - replace the GEN-APU (8XS) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-23-51-000-001)
R and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-23-51-400-001)
R B. Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits operate correctly in APU R configuration.
R (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits from the APU (Ref. AMM TASK R 24-41-00-861-002).
R (2) Let the APU generator operate for five minutes to make sure that it R operates correctly.
