A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

4. Procedure

Subtask 78-31-49-020-086
A. Removal of the Head Supply Junction Pipe
(1) Put a container 1 USgal (4 L) under the lower hydraulic actuator.
(2) Disconnect the lower head supply hose from the actuator and let the hydraulic fluid drain into the container.
(3) Connect the lower rod supply hose to the actuator.
(4) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 235 and 260 lbf.in (2.65 and 2.93 m.daN).
NOTE : Apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material
____ No. CP2245) on the nut and connection after they are torqued.
(5) Remove the nuts and the bolts that attach the double flange and the upper half clamps to the double hydraulic line bracket.
(6) Loosen the bottom bolt that attach the upper half clamp to the middle hydraulic line bracket. Remove the top bolt and the upper head shield.
(7) Remove nuts and bolts that attach the lower head shield to the forward frame.
(8) Remove the nut that attach the head supply junction pipe to the middle hydraulic line bracket.
(9) Disconnect the upper head supply hose from the upper head swivel joint.
(10) Disconnect the head supply junction pipe from the lower head swivel joint.
(11) Remove the upper head swivel joint from the head supply junction pipe.
(12) Remove and discard the packing (10).
(13) Put protective covers on the pipe ends.

CAUTION : USE 2 WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS.

ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION AND ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE
COUPLING NUT. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE HARDWARE.
CAUTION : MAKE SURE THERE IS NO UNWANTED MATERIAL IN THE PORTS AND ORIFICES OR

DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION : YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
