R  A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration 
R  (1) make sure that you read the instructions given in the Inspection 
R  after the Aircraft goes off the runway/taxiway (Ref. TASK 05-51-24-
R  200-001) before you do this task. 
R  (2) On the panel 400VU, make sure that the landing gear control lever is 
R  in the DOWN position. 
R  (3) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the free-fall control handle is in 
R  the usual position. 
R  (4) On the nose gear leg, on the electrical box (5CG), make sure that the 
R  towing lever is in the towing position (disengaged position). 
R  (5) Lift the aircraft at the forward jacking point (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-
R  581-003). 
R  NOTE : During lifting, make sure that extension of the shock absorber____ 
R  is smooth and full. 
R  (6) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized 
R  (Ref. TASK 29-10-00-864-002). 
R  (7) Release the remaining pressure from the servo-control (6CG) 
R  (Ref. TASK 32-51-51-000-001). 
R  (8) Disconnect the torque link at its apex point (Ref. TASK 32-21-27-000-

 (1) Open the main doors of the NLG (Ref. TASK 32-22-00-010-001).

 C. Safety Precautions
R (1) Make sure that the GROUND SAFETY LOCK (D23080000) or PIN-NLG DOWNLOCK R SAFETY (MZ23080000) as an alternative is in position.

 Make sure that the SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR (98D32203502000) are in position.

 (3)
 Put warning notice(s) to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.

 A. Inspection
 (1)
 Measure the out-of-round of the sliding rod between 180 mm (7.0866 in.) and 570 mm (22.4409 in.) from the axle centerline:

 -the out-of-round must not be more than 40 microns.

 (2)
 Do an inspection of the steering actuating cylinder for cracks, damaged paint and deformation.

 (3)
 Measure the diameter of the cylinder body at its ends:

 -the diameter must not be more than 88.3 mm (3.4763 in.).

 (4)
 Manually move the upper torque link to turn the rotating tube:

 -make sure that the rotating tube turns freely.

 (5)
 Make sure that there is no blue color, signs of bronze or chrome damage on the sliding rod.

 Connect the torque link (Ref. TASK 32-21-27-400-001).

 C. Test
 (1) Do a functional test of the steering system (Ref. TASK 32-51-00-720-003) or (Ref. TASK 32-51-00-720-004).
