R (3) Connect the filling hose (11) to the end fitting (2) of the FILLING
R ASSEMBLY and hand tighten.
R
R (4) Move the wrench (9) down and turn counterclockwise to open the
R charging valve (6).
R NOTE : In the step that follows, make sure that you deflate the shock____
R absorber slowly. This is to prevent possible shock when the
R shock absorber gets to the lower limit of its travel.
R (5) Slowly open the control valve (13) to let the shock absorber fully
R deflate.
R (6) When all the nitrogen pressure is released, close the control valve
R (13).

R B. Replenishment of the NLG Shock Absorber
(1) Fill the NLG shock absorber with HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-
001) or HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-004), as follows:
CAUTION : DO NOT LET THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE INCREASE TO MORE THAN_______
22bar (319psi). THIS WILL PREVENT INTERNAL DAMAGE.
NOTE : 5.577 l (1.4732 USgal) of hydraulic fluid is necessary to fill____
the NLG shock absorber.
R
R NOTE : In the steps that follow, make sure that you compress/extend____
R the shock absorber slowly. This is to prevent possible shock
R when the shock absorber gets to the limit of its travel.
R (a) Put the trolley jack under the jacking dome of the shock
R absorber.
R (b) Open the control valve (13).
R (c) Use the trolley jack to fully compress the shock absorber, while
R you monitor the hydraulic fluid that goes into the drain
R container (15).
R NOTE : When you first compress the shock absorber, it is possible____
R that no hydraulic fluid goes into the container. This can
R occur if the shock absorber is empty of fluid, or the
R fluid level is too low.
R (d) Close the control valve (13).
R (e) Slowly lower the trolley jack until it disengages from the
R jacking dome.
R (f) Open the control valve (20). Slowly operate the hand pump (17) to
R increase the hydraulic supply pressure until the shock absorber
R is fully extended.
R (g) Close the charging valve (6) and the control valve (20).
R (h) Wait for a minimum of ten minutes to make sure all the air is
R removed from the hydraulic fluid.
R (i) Open the charging valve (6) and the control valve (13) to bleed
R the shock absorber.
R (j) Use the trolley jack to slowly compress the shock absorber to its
R limit.
R (k) Do the steps (b) thru (h) again, until all the air is removed
R from the hydraulic fluid.
R (l) Keep the shock absorber compressed and close the charging valve
R (6).
R (m) Disconnect the hydraulic supply hose (18) from the 3-way valve
R (12).
R (n) Loosen the filling hose (11) at the FILLING ASSEMBLY to let the
R hydraulic fluid drain into the drain container (15).
R (o) Tighten the filling hose (11) on the FILLING ASSEMBLY and close
R the control valve (13).
R (p) Remove the bleed hose (14) from the three-way valve (12).
R (2) Fill the NLG shock absorber with nitrogen gas, as follows:
R WARNING : DO NOT PUT COMPRESSED GAS IN CONTACT WITH YOUR SKIN. THE_______
R GAS CAN GO THROUGH THE SKIN AND MAKE BUBBLES IN THE BLOOD.
R THIS CONDITION CAN KILL YOU.
R CAUTION : ALWAYS ADD NITROGEN SLOWLY WHEN YOU PRESSURIZE THE SHOCK_______
R ABSORBER. IF YOU ADD THE NITROGEN TOO QUICKLY, THE
R TEMPERATURE WILL INCREASE AND HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE SHOCK
R ABSORBER PRESSURE.
R (a) Connect the supply hose (19) of an approved nitrogen supply to
R the 3-way valve (12).
R (b) Disconnect the filling hose (11) from the FILLING ASSEMBLY.
R (c) Open the control valves (20) and (13). Slowly open the control
