technicians have gained high level
accreditation in a range of Heatcon Abaris’
reputable training courses, and are
proficient in a wide range of repair
techniques to exceptional standards.
To promote the effective use of
composites in motorsport, and help
promote better application standards, SC
Solutions offers custom training courses in
non-structural repair work for racecar
technicians.
SC Solutions enjoys an enviable position as
the exclusive provider of composite repair
work to the A1GP World Cup of
Motorsport races, and is present at race
events around the globe. SC Solutions’
technicians utilise ACG’s Variable
Temperature Moulding prepregs (VTM®)
materials right on the edge of the race
track, taking advantage of the lower curing
temperatures of VTM® prepregs using a
portable, programmable hot-bonder
device.
SC Solutions selected composite materials
from ACG because of the company’s close
association with Formula One and
motorsport. In particular, SC Solutions
makes daily use of ACG’s VTM®264FRB,
one of a range of VTM® prepregs, for its
normal repair work. For mould tools, SC
Solutions uses ACG’s Low Temperature
Moulding (LTM®) tooling prepregs.
For repairs carried out at the racetrack, SC
Solutions depends on ACG’s line of VTM®
materials because of their extended out
life times, a characteristic which means
that the materials can be transported
without the need for refrigeration; they
can even be hand-carried by technicians
rather than shipped under special
consignment. In this sense, ACG’s
materials are always readily available,
within specified out life, and play a direct
role in ensuring full starting grids at A1GP
World Cup of Motorsport races.
Specifically, VTM®264FRB is a black
pigmented, flame retardant (selfextinguishing
to FMVSS302 / ISO3795 /
SAE J369) matrix for applications that
require exposure to dry service
temperatures up to 100°C (210°F). Its
rheology is designed such that it can be
processed in standard prepreg format or in
ACG’s ZPREG® format with a wide range of
reinforcing fabrics.
With a 30 day work life, low temperature
cure capability and excellent tack and
drape, VTM®264FRB allows ample time to
lay-up very large complex structures,
making it ideal for racecar build and repair
applications, especially those carried out at
the trackside.
SC Solutions: Taking Care of the Field
All around the globe, SC Solutions'
technicians can be found at the
trackside, undertaking everything
from brake duct to full-on structural
chassis repairs, using ACG prepregs
and a portable, programmable oven.
Thanks to SC Solutions, the entire field
of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport
stays on the track.

Page 10 Norma MPM Adopts ACG Out-Of-Autoclave Prepregs
Norma MPM, a Dutch company which
manufactures complex modules and
systems for radar antennas using a
combination of composite and metal, with
a high degree of integrated functionality,
uses ACG’s Variable Temperature
Moulding VTM®240 series of vacuum only
(Out-of-Autoclave [OOA]) composite
prepreg materials.
Historically, when part of the Thales
Group, MPM manufactured antennas for
nautical applications, but, since becoming
part of the Norma Group, the company
has expanded into the aerospace and
defence sectors. Although already working
to the highest standards of traceability
throughout the entire manufacturing
process, Norma MPM recently obtained
Lloyd’s accreditation to AS9100.
Norma MPM’s strength is the combination
of skilled people, high tech infrastructure
and strong ambition – as their motto says,
the Group is “Inspired by Challenge”.
Moreover, the group prides itself on
offering a complete service, right from
development support and custom
manufacture through to full technical
support during the life cycle of the
product.
Norma MPM’s decision to adopt ACG’s
VTM®240 series prepregs was the product
of a feasibility study into the potential
acquisition of its own autoclave facility.
Previously, the company made use of an
autoclave which was a 2 hour drive away.
However, instead of acquiring their own,
they chose to migrate to the vacuum only
process, noting that ACG’s VTM®240 series
