The commercial MRO market will grow at a
compound annual rate of 3.6% over the next
10 years, reaching $45.8 billion after five years
and a record $54.7 billion at the end of 2015,
according to the latest forecast for O&M magazine
by aviation consulting firms TeamSAI and
BACK Aviation Solutions.
The market is currently holding around
$38.3 billion, still below the record $42.2 billion
of 2001 but showing some recovery from the
$36.1 billion bottom it hit in 2003. The forecast

be presented with the 2004
Charles B. Ryan Award for
Business Innovation here
on Wednesday.

MRO, shedding cost while
growing its customer base,
making it a deserving recipient
of our annual Charles
B. Ryan MRO Award,” said
Kenneth E. Gazzola, executive
vp and publisher,
Aviation Week Group.
“Challenging times led
to innovation and inspired
United Services with the
courage to examine its
MRO business and make
significant strategic changes—
even exiting work
segments where it could
not be competitive and
restructuring its collective
bargaining agreements—in
order to focus its business
and increase revenue,”
Gazzola added.
United Services is the
sole winner this year of the
prestigious MRO award
that is typically presented
annually to two companies
in separate industry categories.
“We’ve strategically
focused on cost-effective,
competitive endeavors,
and exited markets that
were not delivering,” said
