the second year running.
“MRO started as a conference for higher
level executives and it has grown to incorporate
a major trade show as well,” says
Lydia Janow, director of Aviation Week’s
trade shows and conferences.
The first conference, held here in Dallas,
attracted 550 attendees; some 4,200 are
expected to register at this year’s MRO.
Exhibit space sold out several months ago
with 365 companies signed up
compared to just 70 booths at
the first show.
“Industry executives, their
suppliers and customers attending this
year’s MRO—with the added value of
MRO Military— will find a comprehensive
one-stop business environment that is extra
sensitive to the extraordinary pressures of
today’s rapidly changing MRO marketplace,”
notes Kenneth E. Gazzola, executive
vp and publisher of Aviation Week Group.

IAI-Bedek AirTran Airways Support
Israel Aircraft Industries’ Bedek Aviation (Booth 616) unit has a new contract
from AirTran for component maintenance
for 737-700s, adding to previous
agreements for 717s. AirTran ordered 100 737s in July 2003. “AirTran Airways has a
longstanding relationship with Bedek, and they have proven to be a reliable, responsive,
and cost effective provider of MRO services,” said AirTran senior operations vp
Stephen Kolski. AirTran operates more than 500 flights daily and is the world’s largest
operator of the 717 (shown).
