 (a)  ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 72-675; Install the access port plugs as follows: 1) With a nylon brush, remove the unwanted heat dried compound
 from the threads of the plugs. a) Put some antigalling compound on the threads and on the mating surface of the plug head washer.
 NOTE: Use the antigalling compound and do not use
____ engine oil.
 2) Install the AP-5 and AP-7 inner plugs. a) Tighten the inner plugs to 175-190 pound-inches (19.8-21.5 newton-meters) (Fig. 608).
 (b)  ENGINES POST-PW-SB 72-675; Install the access port plugs as follows:
 NOTE: Do not use the antigalling compound and do not use
____ engine oil. The plugs have baked on antigalling compound.
 1) Install the AP-5 and AP-7 inner plugs. a) Tighten the inner plugs to 175-190 pound-inches (19.8-21.5 newton-meters) (Fig. 608).
 (c)  
With a nylon brush, remove the unwanted heat dried compound from the threads of the plugs.

 (d)  
Put some antigalling compound on the threads and on the mating surface of the plug head washer.


 NOTE: Use the antigalling compound and do not use engine
____ oil.
 (e)  Install the AP-4 and AP-6 plugs.

 (f)  Install the AP-5 and AP-7 outer plugs.
 NOTE: Use the PWA MS9582-19 key washers for the AP-5 and
____ the AP-7 plug installations.
 (g)  Install the AP-2 and AP-3 plugs. 1) For engines with the self-locking helicoil inserts, use them to lock the plugs to the case.
 2)  For engines with key washers which lock the plugs to the case, install new key washers.
 NOTE: For AP-2 plugs, use the PN53H027 key washers and
____ for the AP-3 plugs, use the PN53H028 key washers.
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE AP-2 AND AP-3 ACCESS PORT PLUGS
_______ IN THE CORRECT PORT. IF THE AP-3 PLUG IS INSTALLED IN THE AP-2 ACCESS PORT, THE 5TH-STAGE VARIABLE VANE CAN CATCH ON IT, WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ENGINE SURGE.
 (h)  
Be careful to install the plugs correctly.

 (i)  
Tighten the plugs, AP-2 thru AP-7, to 175-190 pound-inches (19.8-21.5 newton-meters)(Fig. 608).


 NOTE: You can replace damaged threaded inserts (AP-4
____ through AP-7) in the borescope access ports on the HPC rear case (AMM 72-35-01/801).

If you installed the high pressure rotor rotator, remove it (AMM 72-00-00/201).

 (9)  
Do this task: Put the Airplane Back to its Usual Condition.
