 2.  Blend Repair of the 1st-Stage Fan Blade_______________________________________
 A. General
 (1)
You will blend the edges and the surfaces of the 1st-stage fan blades to do the repair.
 (a)
You can blend the blades with a file or an abrasive stone.
 (b)
If you must remove a large quantity of material, you can blend with a power tool.
WARNING:_______ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES WHEN YOU TOUCH THE FAN BLADES. THESE BLADES HAVE SHARP EDGES THAT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOUR HANDS.
CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU REPAIR THE DAMAGE IN THE INNER HALF OF
_______ THE BLADE. THE NICKS IN THE LEADING AND TRAILING EDGES BECOME MORE IMPORTANT AS THEY GET NEARER TO THE ROOT OF THE BLADE.
IF YOU USE A POWER TOOL TO REPAIR THE BLADE, MAKE SURE THE BLADE IS NOT TOO HOT. TOO MUCH HEAT CAN CAUSE THE BLADE TO BECOME WEAK AND CAUSE A FRACTURE. IF THE BLADE IS TOO HOT TO TOUCH WITH YOUR BARE HAND, LET THE SURFACE BECOME COOL BEFORE YOU CONTINUE.
 (2) Obey these procedures when you repair the 1st-stage fan blade:
NOTE: Always use a sharp tool or a clean abrasive cloth to
____ prevent too much heat. Examine the tools frequently and replace them when it is necessary.
For the location of the blade areas, refer to the procedure (AMM 72-31-02/601).
 (a) All the repairs on the blade surface must be smooth.
