_______ BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ARE NEAR THE INLET COWL SURFACE. TOOLS OR PARTS CAN FALL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INLET COWL SURFACE.
 (2)  
Install the rear segment of the inlet cone:

 (a)  
Align the marks on the rear segment of the inlet cone with the compressor hub.

 (b)  
Install the rear segment to the compressor hub with 19 bolts, with the threads lubricated with engine oil, and washers.

Use a non-metalic blunt object and make sure the seal is installed under the fan blade platform leading edge before you tighten the bolts.

 (d)  
Tighten the bolts to 85-95 pound-inches (9.6-10.7
 newton-meters).

Install the front segment of the inlet cone:

 (a)  
Align the marks on the front and rear segments of the inlet cone.

 (b)  
Install the front segment with 6 bolts, with the threads lubricated with engine oil, and washers.

 (c)  
Tighten the bolts to 45-50 pound-inches
 (5.1-5.7 newton-meters).

Remove the protective mats from the inlet cowl.

Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tags from the fuel control switches.

INLET CONE - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure gives two tasks: the first one is for the inspection of
 the front and rear segments of the inlet cone, the second one (which is
 included in the first one) is only for the external surface of the inlet
 cone.

 (1)  
The second inspection is for regular maintenance.

 B.  
Limits are given for the airplane to continue in service or for it to
 turn around and go back to the airport.


 C.  
You must remove the front segment of the inlet cone to do the inspection.

Examine the inlet cone segments for chipping, cracks and
 delamination:

 NOTE: Chipping is an area with erosion where small particles of
____ surface material are gone. Chipping is pitting that was not caused by corrosion.
 (a)  Examine the external surface of the inlet cone segments for chipping, visual cracks and delamination caused by foreign object damage (FOD).
 NOTE: FOD is caused by bird strike, ice that enters the inlet
____
 cowl, or tools.
