(d) Install the breather tubes for the No. 3 bearing (Fig. 606). 1) Lubricate the packing with engine oil. 2) Install the new packing in the groove at the flange end of
the lower tube. 3) Lubricate the threads of the three bolts for the tube to
gearbox pad with engine oil. 4) Attach the tube to the gearbox pad with three bolts. 5) Tighten the bolts by hand. 6) ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 72-211;
Attach the clamp to the bracket at the rear of the oil cooler with one bolt.
7) ENGINES POST-PW-SB 72-211; Attach the clamp to the bracket at the HPC secondary control valve with one bolt and nut.
8) Tighten the three bolts on the gearbox pad to 85-95 pound-inches (9.604-10.734 newton-meters). 9) Tighten the bolt or bolt and nut to 36-40 pound-inches (4.067-4.519 newton-meters). 10) Install the lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule to the gearbox pad bolts. 11) Lubricate the threads of the lower tube nut with antigalling compound. 12) Lubricate the threads of the internal tube of the diffuser
case tube nut with engine oil. 13) Attach the upper tube to the tube nuts. 14) Tighten the tube nuts with your hand. 15) Attach each clamp to its bracket with a bolt and a nut. 16) Tighten the lower tube nut to 675-750 pound-inches
(76.265-84.736 newton-meters). 17) Tighten the internal tube nut on the diffuser case to 650-700 pound-inches (73.440-79.089 newton-meters). 18) Tighten the bolt and nut on each clamp to 36-40 pound-inches (4.067-4.519 newton-meters).
19) Install lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule on the the lower tube nut and the internal tube nut of the diffuser case.

2) ENGINES WITH A STUD AND LUG CONNECTOR ON THE THERMOCOUPLE PROBE; Remove the nuts and washers that connect the EEC wiring harness lugs to the terminal studs on the thermocouple probe.
3) Remove the lockwire and disconnect the nut from the manifold elbow that is on the diffuser case. 4) Remove the bolts that attach the manifold to the oil pump port. 5) Remove the clamp bolt and nut that attach the manifold to the oil pump bracket.
6) ENGINES POST-PW-SB 79-46; Remove the clamp bolt and nut that attach the manifold to the adjacent oil scavenge tube for the No. 4 bearing.
7) Remove the manifold and discard the packing. 8) ENGINES POST-PW-SB 79-46 AND PW-SB 79-75; Retain the two (clip-on) loop clamp grommet halves.
(d)
Install the protective covers.
(e)
Look for coke in the manifold and in the internal tube of the diffuser case. 1) If you find coke, remove the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401).
