 S 496-130-N00 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU PUT COVERS ON ALL OF THE LOWER HALF OF THE
_______ INLET COWL SURFACE. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE EDGES OF THE MATS TOUCH OR ARE ATTACHED WITH TAPE. IF THE EDGES ARE NOT, THEN THE TOOLS OR PARTS CAN FALL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INLET COWL SURFACE.
 (6)  
Put the protective mats on the lower, inner half of the inlet cowl. S 216-131-N00

 (7)  
Look through the 1st-stage fan blades to examine the 1st-stage stator vanes for signs of FOD.


 NOTE: To do a full inspection, you can remove the fan blades or you

 can use a borescope through the fan, in the Thru Fan AP.

 (a)  If you find damage, refer to AMM 72-31-04/601 for the damage
 limits.

 (8)  With the white light, examine the 1.6th-stage blades for signs of FOD.
 NOTE: To do a full inspection, you can remove the 1st-stage stator

 or use a borescope through the fan, in the Thru Fan AP.

 (a)  If you find damage, refer to AMM 72-31-05/601 for the damage
 limits.

 (9)  
Remove the protective mats from the inlet cowl. S 866-134-N00

 (10)
 Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tags from the fuel control switches.


 S 416-232-N00 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 WHEN YOU CLOSE THE
_______ THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.

 Close the thrust reversers (AMM 78-31-00/201). S 416-233-N00

 (12)
 Close the core cowl panels (AMM 71-11-06/201).

 14. LPC 4th-Stage Blade and Vane Inspection_______________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  This inspection is the visual check of the 4th-stage LPC blades and vanes.
 CAUTION: WHEN YOU EXAMINE THE BLADES AND VANES, FIND THE CAUSE OF ALL OF
_______ THE FOD TO MAKE SURE THAT THE LOW PRESSURE COMPRESSOR (LPC) IS SERVICEABLE. DAMAGE IN THIS AREA CAN BE AN INDICATION OF A MORE DANGEROUS PROBLEM. OTHER COMPONENTS CAN POSSIBLY BE DAMAGED.
 CAUTION: USE CAUTION WHEN YOU USE THIS PROCEDURE TO MAKE A DECISION
_______ ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE ENGINE. THE BORESCOPE INSPECTION LIMITS ARE A RESULT OF TESTS AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS. THE PART LIFE AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ENGINE CAN DECREASE QUICKLY WHEN THE DAMAGE OF THE PARTS BECOMES NEAR THE MAXIMUM CONTINUE-IN-SERVICE LIMITS.
 (2)  
The limits given in this section will help you know if the engine can continue to operate or if you must remove and repair it.
