3. Job Set-up
__________
Subtask 51-78-00-865-056
A. Open, safety and tag the circuit breakers of all the electrical components and the systems in the leakage area.
Subtask 51-78-00-010-053
B. Get Access
(1)
Get access to the area of the leakage.
(2)
Remove the components from the area you will clean, to prevent contamination from water and/or cleaning agents.
NOTE : Make sure that all electrical outlets are covered to protect
____
them from water.
(3)
Put plastic sheets over components and areas adjacent to the leakage.
(4)
Use a plastic container for used cloths and/or sponges.
4. Procedure
_________ Subtask 51-78-00-110-053
A. Cleaning Procedure
(1)
Soak up the contamination with a lint-free cloth or a sponge.
(2)
In areas that you can not dry with a cloth use SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-038).
(3)
Prepare the necessary solution.
(4)
For alkali leakage mix a solution of 5 % boric acid and water. Mix 50 g (1.76 oz) of boric acid with 1 l (0.2641 USgal) of water to get the necessary solution.
(5)
For acid leakage mix a solution of 5 % sodium bicarbonate and water. Mix 50 g (1.76 oz) of sodium bicarbonate with 1 l (0.2641 USgal) of water to get the necessary solution.
(6)
Apply the solution to the dirty area with a nonmetallic brush and/or lint-free cloth.
(7)
Apply the solution until the chemical reaction stops. Keep the solution on the surface for 5 min.
(8)
Remove the neutralized mixture with a cloth and/or a sponge.
(9)
Flush the area with clean water.
(10)
Use a soft brush to remove the clean water.
(11)
Do a test to measure the pH-value of the leakage area.
(12)
Use universal indicator paper to do the test.
(13)
Make sure that the pH-value is not more than 7 and not less than 5.5.
(14)
You must do a test on areas where it is not easy to get access.
(15)
If the pH-valve is not correct clean the area again.
(16)
Dry the area with a hot air dryer.
(17)
If necessary, repair corrosion damage (Ref. TASK 51-74-11-300-001).
(18)
If necessary, repair the paint layers (Ref. TASK 51-75-12-300-003).
(19)
If necessary, apply a layer of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-027) to the area (Ref. TASK 51-75-13-916-001).
(20)
If necessary, apply a layer of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-005) to the area (Ref. TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
5. Close-up
________ Subtask 51-78-00-410-053 R A. Close Access R
(1)
Install all the components that were removed for the cleaning task.
(2)
Remove the safety clip(s) and tag(s) and close the circuit breakers of the electrical components and systems in the work area.
