R  do the subsequent procedure: 
R  WARNING : OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU USE THE_______ 
R  SPECIAL MATERIAL. 
R  THIS MATERIAL IS DANGEROUS. 

R  (a) Remove the paint from the area of the dent and the adjacent 10 mm 
R  (0.3937 in.) of the dent with the abrasive cloth grade 280. 

R  (b) Clean the repair area with the CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-
R  004) and a clean cloth, MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) 

R  (c) Cover the area adjacent to the dent with the masking paper and 
R  the masking tape. 
R

 

R  (d) Mix the necessary amount of the SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 
R  05-051) to the manufacturer's instructions. 

R  (e) Apply the polyester filler to the repair area with a SCRAPER -
R  NON METALLIC. 

R  (f) Refer to the manufacturer's specifications for curing times and 
R  let the polyester filler cure. 

R  (g) Smooth the polyester filler to the contours of the component with 
R  the abrasive cloth grade 280. 

R  (h) Smooth the polyester filler with the abrasive cloth grade 400 to 
R  the contours of the component. 

R  (i) Apply the applicable surface protection (Ref. TASK 51-75-12-300-
001).

 A. Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and
 standard tools and all other items.

 

 REPAIRS OF CORRODED AREAS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

 1. General_______ 
R  Corrosion can seriously effect the safe operation of the aircraft, its 
R  components and structure. When corrosion is found it must be removed as soon 
R  as possible. The area of the corrosion damage must be inspected before the 
R  repair can be started. 
R  It is very important that all corrosion deposits are removed. Any corrosion 
R  remaining can become a starting point for more corrosion. 
R  Refer to ASRM 51-74-00 for more data.
 2. Description___________ 
R  Corrosion usually starts on the material surface. It then goes towards the 
R  material center destroying its solid substance. 
R  Refer to AMM 51-74-11 08 for the removal of: 
R  - corrosion, general, 
R  - corrosion on unpainted alloy, 
R  - corrosion on window frames.
