1. General_______
Paint and/or special coatings seal the aircraft structures against corrosion. The type of protective coating used depends on the location, function and corrosion resistance of the component.
You must repair any damage to the original protective treatment. Refer to AMM 51-23-00 and SRM 51-75-00 for the original build up.

-RUBBER, ALL COMPOSITE PARTS, ACRYLIC MATERIALS, AERODYNAMIC SMOOTHER, METAL BONDED EDGES, PITOT PROBES, SENSORS, STATIC PORTS, ENGINE AIR INTAKE, PRECOOLER AIR OUTLET SCREEN, ENGINE EXHAUST DUCT, APU EXHAUST, APU INTAKES AND OUTLETS, AIR-CONDITIONING RAM AIR INLETS, LANDING GEARS, DOOR SEALS, ACCESS DOORS, CABIN WINDOW AND WINDSHIELD PANELS AND SEALS, ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND CABLES, PLASTIC MATERIALS, EXTERNAL SKIN PANEL JOINTS, HIGH STRENGTH STEEL PARTS, DRAIN HOLES, VENTS AND ALL ANTENNAS.
(1) Use the polyethylene film and the BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-019) to mask the areas adjacent to the work area.
NOTE : Do not mask the joints of external skin panels (except in fuel

tank areas) if:
-there are no bonded doublers in the joints
-the total time you apply the stripper is less than four hours.
(2) If necessary, install the correct protection covers/devices to protect the adjacent aircraft components from damage and contamination (Ref. TASK 12-21-11-615-001).

WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
CAUTION : DO NOT USE CHEMICAL PAINT STRIPPERS TO REMOVE PAINT FROM_______ COMPOSITE MATERIALS. THE STRIPPERS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE AND DELAMINATION OF THE COMPOSITE STRUCTURE.
R R CAUTION : DO NOT USE A METAL SCRAPER TO REMOVE THE UNWANTED MATERIAL. A_______ METAL SCRAPER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT.
