With a pipette, apply 3 or 4 drops of the test solution to the minor damage.

Let the solution take effect for 1 to 3 minutes. If the minor damage has gone through the aluminum cladding, the exposed alloy will go black/ brown, the cladding will not change color.

Flush the test area with clean water before the solution dries.
(7)
Neutralize the area with a 5 % chromic oxide solution.
(8)
Flush the test area with clean water.
(9)
Dry the area with a hot air dryer.

A. Repair of Minor Damage
R (1) Do an inspection of the depth of the minor damage (Ref. TASK 51-73-
00-200-001).
R (2) Refer to the ASRM 51-73-00 and the applicable ASRM-chapter 52 thru 57
R for the permitted depth limits.
R (3) Repair the minor damage that has not gone through the aluminum
cladding as follows:

THIS MATERIAL IS DANGEROUS.
R (4) Clean the repair area with the CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004)
and a lint-free cloth.
R (5) Apply COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-012) to the scratch.
R (6) Force the aluminum cladding into the scratch with a steel roller.
NOTE : Use the roller along the length of the scratch until the____
aluminum cladding has sealed the surface.
R (7) Repair the minor damage that has gone through the aluminum cladding
as follows:
