E. Data Base The data base is divided into two main parts which are the navigation data base and the performance data base. The navigation data base stores various types of data describing a geographical area in which the aircraft flies. This data base is used to create flight plans (laterally and vertically), tune navaids or compute aircraft position. The performance data base describes the performance models divided into aircraft aerodynamic model and engine model. This data base is used for predictions and optimization. The pilots may know the data base program configuration on SOFTWARE STATUS page, which can be accessed through the A/C STATUS page. This page is accessed from the DATA INDEX A page which allows to display data about sensors and gives access to the PRINT function.
(1) DATA INDEX A page
(Ref. Fig. 060)
(a)
Access This page is displayed via the DATA mode key on the MCDU, or the right or left arrow from the DATA INDEX B page.
(b)
Purpose This page allows access to various reference pages as sensor monitor pages and A/C STATUS page.
(c)
Data fields
-1L: Access to POSITION MONITOR page,
-2L: Access to IRS MONITOR page,
-3L: Access to GPS MONITOR page (if fitted),
-4L: Access to A/C STATUS page,
-5L: Access to CLOSEST AIRPORTS page
-6L: Acess to EQUITIME POINT page
-6R: Access to ACARS/PRINT FUNCTION page (optional).

(2) A/C STATUS page (Ref. Fig. 061, 062)
(a)
Access
-LS key from DATA INDEX A,
-
automatic display upon long term power up,
-
automatic display upon transition to DONE flight phase,
-
automatic display after database crossload.
(b)
Purpose Allows crew to review the FMGC data base program configuration and pilot-stored elements. Also, the flight crew may activate the second navigation data base or initiate the transfer of the navigation data base to the other FMGC.
(c)
Data fields
-Title: the configuration, the type and the model number of the aircraft are displayed in this field.
-1L-Engine type: displays the type of engine the aircraft has for prediction purposes.
-2L-2R: displays the effectivity dates and navigation data base serial number for the active navigation data base.
-3L-3R: displays the effectivity dates and navigation data base serial number for the second navigation data base. The crew may activate the second navigation data base by pressing LS key 3L. If the second navigation data base is activated, the effectivity dates switch positions.
-4R: the label line of field 5R and the data line of field 4R display the number of elements stored by the pilot. The stored elements belong to the active data base. These fields may be blanked if all stored elements are automatically deleted on ground (by AMI software option: CO RTE retention). The deletion is performed when the flight phase transitions to DONE. Otherwise, all stored elements are automatically deleted when a new data base is loaded or when the data base cycle is changed.
-5R-DELETE ALL and CONFIRM DEL: when confirmed it allows to delete all pilot-stored elements manually. If the pilot does not confirm the DELETE ALL by not selecting the CONFIRM DEL prompt, this prompt reverts to the DELETE ALL prompt as soon as any mode key or line select key (except 5R) is pressed on the MCDU on which the DELETE ALL prompt was selected.
-5L-CHG CODE: This field allows entry of a code which permits modification of the Idle and/or Perf Factor displayed in field 6L.
-6L-IDLE/PERF: This field displays the Idle and Perf Factors.

-6R-SOFTWARE STATUS AND CROSSLOAD: this field allows the access to the P/N STATUS pages.
(3) Databases and configuration files load and crossload This function allows to bring up to date operational software and data bases by loading or crossloading from a specific FMS onto the opposite side all these loadable elements.
(a)
Mandatory loadable elements The FMS will lock on the P/N STATUS (and also A/C STATUS) pages as long as the following loadable elements have not been correctly loaded:
-FMS operational software
-Performance Date Base
-OPC file
-Navigation Data Base
-AMI file if one of the two AMI file is not a default one.
(b)
Loading procedure
The loading procedure into the aircraft is the following:
