-
If the revised waypoint is the manual termination of an HM leg or the termination of the leg prior to an HM leg, the defining parameters of that holding pattern can be reviewed and/or changed.
-
If that holding pattern is the active leg and any parameter is changed, a temporary is created and any subsequent INSERT becomes effective upon the next crossing of the holding fix. Otherwise (not active leg), changes (after INSERT is pressed on TMPY page) are taken into account immediately.
(b) HOLD pages
(Ref. Fig. 045)
1 Access
_
-HOLD LS key on LAT REV page
-if the HOLD page is displayed and aircraft position becomes invalid, then the display returns to the previous F-PLN page and a message is displayed in the scratchpad (A/C POSITION INVALID).
2 Purpose
_ Allows flight crew to insert or modify a holding pattern in flight plan.
3 Data fields
_
-Title: Depending on the revised point selected, the following titles can be displayed:
HOLD Pages
Figure 045
*
HOLD AT
*
DATABASE HOLD AT or COMPUTED HOLD AT
*
the revised point selected on the F-PLN page is displayed if the title is DATA BASE HOLD AT or COMPUTED HOLD AT. If the title is HOLD AT, the revised point is displayed. If the revised point is PPOS, then PPOS is displayed.
-Prompt in line 2R: the following may appear in line 2R:
*
DATA BASE
*
COMPUTED
*
blank
In the cases where DATA BASE or COMPUTED is displayed in 2R,
REVERT TO is displayed.
-1L-INB CRS: flight crew can specify and modify inbound course. For DATA BASE HOLD, the inbound course is the one defined in Data Base and is displayed in large font. For COMPUTED HOLD, the inbound course is a default value and is displayed in small font.
-2L-TURN direction: the flight crew may select a right or left holding pattern by entering R or L respectively via the scratchpad. For Data base hold, the turn direction is the Data base value (displayed in large font).
-3L-TIME/DIST: the time (in minutes) and distance of a leg of the holding pattern. For Data base holds, if the stored value in Holding pattern file is Time, it is displayed here and distance is FM computed. Else, if the stored value in Holding pattern file is Distance it is displayed here, and time is FM computed. For computed Holds, the default time is 1.0 min below 14,000 ft or 1.5 min above 14,000 ft.
-the parameter (TIME or DIST) that defines the hold leg is displayed in large font except for Computed Holds, where both time and distance are small fonts. The calculated value is displayed in small font. If the pilot enters a value it becomes the defining parameter and is displayed in large font.
-LAST EXIT-UTC/FUEL: the time by which the holding pattern must be exited, and the fuel available for the hold such that reserve requirements are met. These are calculated values and pilot entry is not allowed. Because it is a limit value, this data is always displayed in magenta large font. If a value is not available then white, large dashes are displayed.
-6R-INSERT: inserts holding pattern into flight plan and returns the display to the F-PLN page as previously displayed. If the holding pattern is at present position, the holding fix is the LAT/LONG of the aircraft when the INSERT LS key is pressed.
-6L-RETURN or ERASE: these two prompts allow the display to return to the previous LAT REV page. ERASE allows also to delete the TEMPORARY flight plan.
-When this page is accessed, if the hold does not exist in the flight plan, all data (1L, 2L, 3L) are displayed in yellow and the prompts ERASE and INSERT are displayed in line 6.
-when a Temporary is created, all the parameters are yellow (even for computed or Data base Hold). For existing active HM, the parameters are cyan. When the pilot has modified a parameter, clearing that manual entry reverts to default value i.e. previously selected Data base or computed value.
(9) Airways
(a)
General This function allows selection of up to 5 prestored airways segments for insertion into the flight plan. This function is accessed from the LAT REV page via an AIRWAYS prompt. The prompt is only available for a revision at a fixed waypoint; it is not available at the from waypoint; it is also not available at Lat/Long, Place/Bearing/Distance, Place-Bearing/Place-Bearing, Place/Dist, LLXing and Radial or Abeam Intercept waypoints created by the pilot.
