APPROACH VIAS Pages

-6L-RETURN: this prompt allows a return on ARRIVAL page 2 when the pilot does not want to change the selected approach transition.
-This page may be slewed when all available approach transitions do not fit in one page. The slew is made 3 lines by 3 lines in an open loop.
-If no compatible APPR VIA is found for the selected STAR and APPROACH, the NO VIA option is selected and this page cannot be accessed (the list would be blank).
(c) MCDU mechanization (Ref. Fig. 039, 040, 041, 042) The same philosophy as the departure procedure applies except that 4 elements (instead of 3) can be defined. These 4 optional elements are:
-
APPR final approach (including RWY and missed approach),
-
APPR VIA (approach transition),
-STAR,
-TRANS (enroute transition),
The only required element is the APPR which is used to define the
destination runway.
Three pages are used to select the approach procedures.
-
ARRIVAL page 1 displays the available RWYs and final approaches and features
-
ARRIVAL page 2 displays the STARs compatible with the selected APPR and the enroute transitions compatible with the selected STAR.
-APPROACH VIAS page may be used to display the approach
transitions (if any).
Normally, the arrival selection starts with the runway and the final, then the STAR, followed by the APPR transition (if any) and finally the enroute transition. If a runway has one associated final Approach (at least), it can be selected with a final or "by-itself" with the following priority for MCDU display purpose: MLS (if the MLS option is activated by OPC file), ILS, IGS, LOC, BAC (if the OPC "Back Beam option activated" is selected), LDA, SDF, GPS (if the GPS option is activated by the OPC "GPS option activated"), RNAV, VOR, NDB, runway -by-itself (e.g LFBO 33L, displayed as 33L). If a runway has no associated final approach, the runway-by-itself can be selected on ARRIVAL 1 page. A runway-by-itself is always strung with a default CF leg of 5 NM length in the runway axis. The origin of that leg is named CF.

The active elements of the arrival procedure are displayed in
green (active F-PLN color) at the top of all the arrival pages,
and in the individual lists without possible selection (i.e. no
arrow).
When a TEMPORARY F-PLN is created by a new element selection, the
active element is displayed in green with possible reselection
(arrow) and the temporary element is displayed in yellow at this
top of the page and in the list without possible selection.
When a runway/approach is modified on ARRIVAL 1 page (TMPY F-PLN)
three cases appear:
