Step (Ref. Fig. 058) The STEP ALTS page allows entry and display of the geographic and optimum step points, with associated cost savings for the optimum step. This page is accessed from the VERT REV or PERF CRZ page through the STEP ALTS prompt. Entry of a step altitude constraint on a fixed flight plan waypoint is also allowed via the F-PLN page. Up to four flight plan geographic step points with varying altitude, or one non-inserted optimum step from the current cruise altitude to the next cruise altitude are allowed. Up to three geographic steps may be allowed after an inserted optimum step. Time and fuel saving are provided continously for an optimum step climb point that has not been inserted. If no optimum step climb point exists or if it has been inserted, no savings are displayed.

HISTORY WIND page 1 Access
1_ Access
Selecting the WIND prompt on the INIT A page.
Selecting the PREV PHASE prompt from any CRUISE WIND page or
from the DESCENT WIND page when no cruise waypoints exist.
Pressing the WIND prompt on the VERT REV page at any climb
waypoint (i.e. the origin or any waypoint prior to the T/C).
In preflight, takeoff, go around (if the destination airport
has changed) or climb phase, pressing the WIND prompt on the
VERT REV page at the FROM waypoint.
Selecting the CLIMB WIND or INSERT prompt on the HISTORY WIND
page.
Selecting the CLIMB WIND prompt on the UPLINK WIND page.
2_ Purpose
This page allows entry and display of the wind (direction and
velocity) at up to 10 climb altitudes.

WIND Pages
Figure 059
2_ Purpose
Allows the pilot to display and modify history wind direction
and velocity.
During active descent, the FM stores measured wind at a
maximum of four flight levels: the CRZ FL (FLXXX) and FL250,
FL150, FL050 provided that these flight levels are less than
FLXXX.
History wind can then be used for the next flight, as a basis
for the climb wind definition.
(c) CRUISE WIND page
1 Access
_ Selecting the WIND prompt at a cruise waypoint on the VERT REV page. The wind data (if any) at the selected waypoint is displayed. Cruise waypoints are those following the first T/C (or A/C position, if flight phase is cruise) up to the final T/D or last waypoint (if no destination). If the T/C and T/D cannot be defined (i.e. invalid predictions), then cruise waypoints are all these between the origin and destination (non-inclusive) until T/C and T/D are computed. In cruise phase with an existing cruise waypoint, pressing the WIND prompt on the VERT REV page at the FROM waypoint. The wind data for the first available cruise waypoint downpath of the A/C is displayed. NEXT PHASE prompt from the CLIMB WIND page and a cruise waypoint exists. The wind data for the first cruise waypoint is displayed. PREV PHASE prompt from the DESCENT WIND page and a cruise waypoint exists. The wind data for the first cruise waypoint is displayed. CRUISE WIND prompt from the UPLINK CRUISE WIND (Ref. 22-76-00). The wind data for the first cruise waypoint is displayed. Flight phase transitions from climb to cruise, a cruise waypoint exists and the CLIMB WIND page was displayed. The wind data for the first cruise waypoint is displayed.
2 Purpose
_ This page allows entry and display of a wind (direction and velocity) at up to four altitudes for each cruise waypoint. This page may also be used to defined a temperature at an altitude relative to a cruise waypoint.
(d) DESCENT WIND page Selecting the NEXT PHASE prompt from any CRUISE WIND page or from the CLIMB WIND page if no cruise waypoints exists. Pressing the WIND prompt on the VERT REV page at any descent waypoint (i.e. the destination or any waypoint after the T/D, excluding missed approach). In descent, approach, go around (if the destination airport has not changed), or cruise phase (if no cruise waypoint exists), pressing the WIND prompt on the VERT REV page at the FROM waypoint. Selecting the DESCENT WIND or INSERT prompt on the UPLINK DESCENT WIND page (Ref. 22-76-00 if ACARS is fitted). Automatically when flight phase transitions from cruise to descent and a CRUISE WIND page was displayed or when flight phase transitions from climb to cruise, no cruise waypoints exist, and a CLIMB WIND page was displayed.
1_ Purpose
This page allows entry and display of a wind (direction and
