04 - SESSION GUIDE
ECAM trainer or FBS (if applicable) in situation A
Situation A : Aircraft on ground before engine start
General :
- External electrical power connected,
- Engines not running.
- APU running
- APU bleed on
Overhead Panel :
- No amber lights (except GEN fault lights),
- IRS on NAV and already aligned,
- 1 PFD, 1 ND and 2 ECAM displays are used (dim the others if applicable - FBS).
- Select or insert FPLN and performance data (dim screen - FBS)
- FD’s ON,
- Target ALT 10000 ft.
- Flaps and speed brakes retracted

1 : · Select AIR PACK 1 (2) OVHT and insert prior to cockpit preparation.
Check the ECAM indications and status page.
Point out the use of the MMEL or MEL for aircraft dispatch.
Point out and explain the EMER cancellation p/b.
Point out the RECALL (RCL) p/b features.
· Restore the faulty pack.
ECAM trainer or FBS (if applicable) in situation C
Situation C : Aircraft in flight
Cruise with AP and A/THR engaged
L/G and Flaps retracted
FL 100, STD altimeter setting
Position and fuel freeze (FBS)
2 : · Unfreeze fuel (FBS).
Decrease fuel in one wing to obtain the imbalance advisory.
Explain advisory philosophy but do not treat the advisory (demo purpose).
3 : · Select CAB PR SYS 1 FAULT and insert.
Review level 1 caution (no chime, colour, awareness - loss of redundancy)
overcoming the advisory
then
· Select CAB PR SYS 1 + 2 FAULT and insert.
Explain level 2 caution (single chime, master caution colour, independant
malfunction) overcoming the level 1 caution
Do not clear the ECAM.
then ¼
· Select APU FIRE (extinguishable) and insert
Explain Level 3 warning (CRC, master warning, colour, text priority, overflow)
overcoming the level 2 caution.
Perform ECAM actions and observe automatic return to level 2 caution when level 3
conditions are cancelled (fire extinguished).
CAB PR SYS 1 + 2 FAULT has priority again.
Clear ECAM and restore all systems.
Fuel should be balanced prior to continue.

6 : · Select HYD G RSVR LO LVL and insert :
- observe and note associated lights on overhead panel.
Perform ECAM actions.
Explain transition logic from independant to primary and to secondary failures.
Point out the associated displays :
- Analyse HYD page on ECAM SD.
- Analyse secondary failures (affected systems) on WHEEL page and on FCTL page.
- Analyse aircraft STS.
Point out and comment the colour coding on STS.
· Do not restore hydraulic green system malfunction.
7 : · Select HYD B RSVR OVHT and insert.
Perform ECAM actions.
8 : Explain sound logic (AP OFF warning and cavalry charge then CRC).
Recall ECAM EWD indications (LAND ASAP, overflow, status).
Point out and review relationship ECAM versus QRH (speed and landing distance
increments, flaps position and special procedures).
Explain approach procedure philosophy.
· Restore green and blue hydraulic malfunctions and affected systems.
9 : · Select ENG 1 FAIL (flame out) and insert.
Explain ECAM indications.
Point out LAND ASAP amber on EWD.
Perform ECAM actions.
