ECAM trainer or FBS (if applicable) in situation A
Situation A : Aircraft on ground before engine start
General :
- External electrical power connected,
- Engines not running.
Overhead Panel :
- No amber lights (except pack and GEN fault lights),
- IRS on NAV and already aligned,
- 1 PFD, 1 ND and 2 ECAM displays are used (dim the others if applicable - FBS).
- Select or insert FPLN and performance data (dim screen - FBS)
- FD’s ON,
- Target ALT 10000 ft.
- Flaps and speed brakes retracted

1 : · Quick introduction to :
- Engine and Warning Display (EWD)
- System Display (SD - system pages, permanent data, status page)
- ECP functions
- ECAM color coding and different warning levels
- ECAM failure classification
- Aircraft system clock (functions and adjustment)
2 : · Point out and comment :
Cross transfer logic : - PFD / ND
- EWD / SD
- SD / ND
3 : APU ECAM page comes up automatically.
Comment APU start sequence and ECAM indications (memo, system page)
Call BLEED page and turn APU bleed to ON.
Comment the supply sequence (PACK 1 - XBLEED - PACK 2).
Observe ECAM memo
4 : ENG start selector to IGN / START - ENG page comes up automatically.
Comment the ENG page presentation
Point out the NWS STRG DISC green memo (becomes amber after first engine
started) if a normal push-back is conducted.
5 : ENG start selector to NORMAL :
- observe WHEEL page is automatically displayed on SD.
FLEX TEMP is calculated and displayed on EWD.
T/O memo displayed after 2 min
F/CTL check calls F/CTL page
APU BLEED OFF then master switch OFF. (memo)
Call BLEED page. Explain manual call of system page
Wing anti ice ON :
- observe memo and ECAM page.

Situation B : Aircraft on ground (after engine start)
General :
- Engines running,
- External electrical power disconnected,
- APU OFF.
MCDU dimmed if applicable (FBS) :
- All parameters as prepared for situation A
6 : · Set take-off power with parking brake selected on PARK.
FBS is frozen (position freeze) :
- observe the red warning (explain park brake is not T/O memo item).
ENG page comes up automatically on SD (on T/O power setting).
7 : · Instructor inserts NAV ADR 3 FAULT at 60 kt :
- explain T.O INHIBIT magenta memo message.
Observe STS reminder on EWD (it appears if any status exists).
8 : Level 2 warning (master caution) occurs when inhibition is released.
Observe Cruise page (cruise phase must be achieved).
ECAM trainer or FBS (if applicable) in situation C
Situation C : Aircraft in flight
- Cruise with AP and A/THR engaged
- L/G and Flaps retracted
- FL 100, STD altimeter setting
- Position and fuel freeze (FBS)
9 : System page review and use of ECAM control panel
10 : · Instructor turns off the upper ECAM DU :
- review the EWD priority.
Explain how to use the ECP in this configuration (system page, status, clear)
· Restore the upper ECAM DU
11 : · Instructor freezes the training device (FBS)
Explain various types of disconnection and associated alert/cancellation of alert
(unwanted/manual)
