· Introduce and practice engine failure at take-off, emergency descent entry technique and
dual engine failure.

B. INTRODUCE
· Start valve manual operation
· Engine failure
· Engine relight
· Emergency descent
· Dual engine failure (drift down strategies).
03 - SESSION PROFICIENCY CRITERIA
· Understand and apply :
- engine failure at T.O. procedure
- emergency descent procedure and technique
- ILS engine out procedure
· Understand the drift down procedure
· Ability to apply the ECAM procedures / QRH procedures

2 : Insert "START VALVE FAULT" before engine start to require the crew to use "Start
valve manual operation". When the crew orders :
"Open the valve" : cancel the failure - after the valve is open, reinsert the fault.
"Close the valve" : cancel the failure.

04 - SESSION GUIDE (END)
3 : After take-off, position and altitude freeze at 500 ft.
SRS commands satisfied, wings level.
Sidestick released, feet off rudders.
Select ECAM FLIGHT CONTROL page.
Select IDLE THRUST on one engine. Adjust Pitch Attitude to that commanded by SRS.
Observe : hands off response, stabilized BANK ANGLE (about 7-9 degrees).
Sideslip index now blue (BETA TARGET).
Observe : Lateral Flight Control response on ECAM.
Use Rudder to centre BETA INDEX and TRIM OUT FOOT LOADS.
Observe : Lateral Flight Controls response on ECAM.
Transfer control and repeat for Trainee 1.
6, 14 : Restore as soon as "After take-off check list" is complete.
12, 25 : Freeze not before reaching FL 100 in order to become familiar with level off procedure,
unwearing the oxy masks and micro resets.
20, 22 : - Fail one engine (no damage) : check that the trainees apply the drift down procedure
- When established in descent, procedure completed fail the second engine (no
damage).
- Maintain both engine failure active until FL 200 to force the trainee to use the APU
bleed start procedure as defined on ECAM.
- Cancel both failures prior to engine start.
21 : Use standard strategy for drift down as defined in FCOM Vol. 3 - 3.06.10, 3.06.20 and
3.06.30.
