Ask your trainees to sit down, adjust the height of the seat to a reasonable value, help with
the armrest and pedals adjustement.
Point out on the PFD’s:
· On speed scale mention S / F / 0 marks briefly.
· Usual display of attitude (FD’s OFF).
· Altitude and vertical speed indications.
· Heading scale and reference line.
· Omit FMA indications
· Dim to zero the ND’s and point out on the Upper ECAM the N1 / EPR (if applicable)
indication and disregard the other parameters.
· Dim to zero the lower ECAM.
· Deselect both FD’s.
· DO NOT initialize the FMGC’s.
· Provide the trainees with average values for :
- Initial target pitch attitude : 15° nose up
- Acceleration pitch attitude : 10° nose up
- Level off target pitch attitude : 2.5° nose up
- Average N1 setting for level flight : 250 kt require some 55% to 60% N1.
The trainee will conduct a fully visual pattern using the skill he has developed on his previous
aircraft, the instructor being there only to help and never to criticize.
NOTE : Second part - Trainee 2 as PF
At trainee’s discretion fly a fully automatic blue circuit or repeat same exercise as for
Trainee 1.
7 : Concerning the stick free speed variations, there is no need to stress too much at this
stage the main features of the Fly-by-Wire ; the important message to deliver is :
This is an aircraft, which means that basic handling principles apply.
