8) Remove the blanking cap and connect the connector. Secure the electrical wiring and the connector with tie—wraps.
9) Screw turnbuckle barrel (8) onto threaded end (10) to ensure grip over two threads.
10) Position drive capstan (5) with the housing of the cable peg directed towards the aircraft front.
11) Wind the cable onto drive capstan (5) — see Detail A.
 
12) Connect threaded end (7) to turnbuckle barrel (8) while ensuring the same thread grip for both threaded ends (7) and (10). Slightly tension the cables without twisting them.
13) Remove the controls immobilization tool from the pilot control wheel.
14) Set the elevator control to neutral position.
15) Using the tensiometer, check the cable tension which must be equal to 10 ± 2 lbs (44.4 ± 8.8 N).
NOTE : Check the tension of the two cables from drive capstan (5) to both ends of elevator lever (11).
16) If the cable tension is incorrect, perform the following operations
a) Screw in or out turnbuckle barrel (8) to modify the tension of the cable without twisting it.
b) Set the elevator control successively to "nose—down", "nose—up" and then to neutral position.
c) Check the tension of the cable on both strands and repeat steps a) thru c) as many times as necessary until you obtain the correct tension.
17) Make sure that when the elevator control is in the extreme positions, "nose—down" and "nose—up", the cable tension does not exceed 30 lbs (133.4 N).
18) Install two new locking clips (9) on the turnbuckle barrel.
19) Install cable guards (4) in such a way so as to prevent them from rubbing against the cable and secure them with screws (3). Lockwire with 0.025 in (0.6 mm) diameter lockwire.
20) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris.
21) Install door 242 and close door 219.
22) Remove the sign prohibiting control wheel operation.
F. Removal of B36 roll servo—actuator (Figure 203)
1) Make sure the switch—breaker of the main switch is open.
2) Make sure the autopilot main switch is set to "OFF".
3) Install the controls immobilization tool on the pilot control wheel.
4) Remove under—hull cowling 218 or 218F.
5) Remove screws (14) and cable guard (13).
6) Remove and discard locking clips (5).
7) Unscrew turnbuckle barrel (7) to disconnect threaded end (4). Retain turnbuckle barrel.
8) Clear the cable from drive capstan (9), wind the cable around itself and, if necessary, attach it to protect it against damage.
9) Cut off and discard the tie—wraps securing the wiring and disconnect the connector of the servo—actuator.
10) Remove screws (12) and support ring (1).
11) Hold the servo—actuator and remove the three bolts (11) and the three washers (10). NOTE : During removal, mark the position of the washers with different thicknesses.
