MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
1. SERVICING
A. Tools and consumable materials
None
B. Routine servicing of "KING" autopilots
Refer to KING Installation Manual P/N 006-0294-00 and KING Service Memo No. 292 at the latest edition.
2. REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - AUTOPILOT
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Two cable clamps T700A2799000008
- Blanking caps and plugs
- Stainless steel lockwire, dia. 0.032 in (0.8 mm) and dia. 0.025 in (0.6 mm)
- Tie wraps
- Tensiometer
- Loctite (TB 08-13C)
- Allen wrench, 3/32 in
B. Removal of B38 pitch trim servo-actuator (Figure 201)
1) Make sure the switch-breaker of the main switch is open.
2) Make sure the autopilot main switch is set to "OFF".
3) Set the elevator tab control to "nose-up" position.
4) Post up a sign prohibiting operation of the elevator tab control.
5) Install the controls immobilization tool on the pilot control wheel.
6) Remove fuselage rear cone 222.
7) Install a cable clamp (2) at the level of rear reel (9).
8) Open baggage compartment door 219 and remove compartment bottom door 242.
9) Install a cable clamp (2) at the level of pulleys (1).
10) Remove screws (16) and pins (15).
11) Remove screw (14) and guard (13) of idler pulley (5).
12) Unlock turnbuckle barrel (7) and threaded ends of cables (6) and (8).
13) Unscrew turnbuckle barrel (7) to disconnect the threaded ends of the cables. Retain the turnbuckle
barrel.
14) Clear the cable from drive capstan (17) and idler pulley (5). NOTE : Protect disconnected cables against damage.
