Examine the floor fittings for loose screws.

COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM.

Slowly turn the interior handle in the open direction until the cams on the girt bar slider cranks lift up and are clear of the girt bar sliders.

Move the girt bar sliders toward the middle of the girt bar (1).

Look for corrosion, damage, and unwanted material on the leaf springs.

Make sure the leaf springs apply sufficient pressure to hold the girt bar sliders.

If the leaf springs do not hold the girt bar sliders, then do these steps:
(a)
Disengage the girt bar sliders from the floor fittings.
(b)
Lift the girt bar (1) and remove the girt bar sliders.
(c)
Measure the height of the leaf spring as shown (View A-A, Fig. 201).
(d)
If the height of the leaf spring is not correct, then carefully bend the leaf spring up to get the correct dimension.
(e)
Install the girt bar sliders on the girt bar (1).
(f)
Engage the girt bar sliders in the floor fittings.
(g)
Make sure the girt bar (1) has equal clearances between the ends of the girt bar (1) and the stop tabs on the floor fittings.
