(a) Set the EXT LT/BEACON switch to ON.
4. Procedure
_________
Subtask 71-00-00-710-077-A
A. Do this test:
R WARNING : AFTER AN ABORT OF THE ENGINE STARTING SEQUENCE, A DRY CRANK, TO_______
R REMOVE FUEL VAPOURS, WILL OCCUR, ACCOMPANIED BY ECAM MESSAGE:
R - AUTO CRANK IN PROGRESS
R ON COMPLETION OF THE DRY CRANK, ALWAYS PUT THE "ENG/MASTER"
R SWITCH BACK TO THE "OFF" POSITION WHEN INSTRUCTED BY ECAM
R MESSAGE:
R - ENG MASTER OFF.
R IF YOU ONLY CHANGE THE POSITION OF THE ENGINE MODE SELECTOR
R SWITCH (FROM "IGN/START" TO "NORM"), THE FADEC SYSTEM WILL NOT
R COMPLETE THE ABORT. THERE IS THUS A RISK THAT THE ENGINE WILL
R START. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS.
CAUTION : DO NOT OPERATE THE ENGINE IF THE FUEL INLET PRESSURE IS NOT
_______ POSITIVE (THE FUEL IS NECESSARY TO LUBRICATE THE ENGINE FUEL PUMP AND THE HMU AND THUS PREVENT DAMAGE).
CAUTION : MONITOR THE START CYCLE VERY CAREFULLY WHEN THE STARTER AIR
_______ INLET PRESSURE IS LOWER THAN RECOMMENDED (SPECIAL OPERATION CONDITIONS). THIS CAN CAUSE LONGER TIMES TO GO TO IDLE AND HIGHER EGT PEAKS.

1. On the ENG panel 115VU: On the lower ECAM display unit:
- Set the - The ENGINE page comes into view. ENG/MODE/CRANK/NORM/IGN/START - Make sure that: selector switch to IGN/START. the air pressure is between 25 psi
(1.7 bar) and 55 psi (3.8 bar). the oil quantity is correct.
If necessary, fill the oil tank (Ref. TASK 12-13-79-610-002) or (Ref. TASK 12-13-79-610-002).

3. Make sure that the engine On the lower ECAM display unit, on the operates. ENGINE page:
- Make sure that the oil pressure indication is positive.
NOTE : During cold weather, important oil pressure surges can occur.
____
NOTE : The oil level in the oil tank can go down by 1.6 USgal (6 l).
____
NOTE : If a starter air pressure is used that is less than the recommended
____ level, slow N2 acceleration and subsequent rpm hangup can occur.
NOTE : Make sure that you do not go over the starter limits that follow:
____
- no engagement of the starter when the core speed is above 20 percent.
- the acceptable duty cycles can be performed by using one the three following procedures:
- 4 consecutive cycles, each of 2 minutes duration with a 20 second rest between 2 consecutive attempts. After 4 cycles, wait 15 minutes to allow starter to cool before you try a new start or motoring. - one 5 minute cycle followed by a cooling period of 2 minutes after the first motoring and a 10 minutes interval between the following ones. - one 15 minute cycle followed by a 15 minute cooling period before you try a new start or motoring. It is recommended to use the 15 minute cycle only for cooling the engine to do a borescope inspection.
4. At 20 percent N2, on the ENG On the lower ECAM display unit, on the
panel 115VU: ENGINE page: R - Set the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control - The AB indication comes into view R switch to ON. below IGN.
