 A. Safety Precautions
 (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:

 (a) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to start the engine.

 (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.

 (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:

 (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.

 (b) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

 4. Procedure
_________ Subtask 71-13-00-820-054
 A. Functional test of the latch tension of the fan cowl. CAUTION : USE YOUR HANDS TO CLOSE THE FAN COWL LATCHES. IF YOU USE YOUR
_______ FOOT OR A TOOL TO CLOSE THE LATCH YOU CAN DAMAGE THE LATCH.
 NOTE : Permitted in-service latch handle force limits are 40 to 50 lbs
____
 (18.2 to 22.7 kgs).
 (1) Open the forward latch. Make sure that the other latches are engaged.

 (2) Turn the adjustment nut with the adjustment tool until a force of 40 to 50 lbs (18.2 to 22.7 kgs) is necessary to close the latch. Measure the force at the tip of the latch handle with a push pull gage.

 (3) Adjust the remaining latches until a force of 40 to 50 lbs (18.2 to


 22.7 kgs) is necessary to close the latch.
