A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
4. Procedure

R A. Measure the distance between the fan cowl doors. R
R (1) Measure the distance between the fan cowl doors at the three latches R with the doors closed. If the distance is not between 0.040 and 0.160 R in. (1.0 and 4.0 mm), adjust the fan cowl doors.
R (2) Measure the distance between the fan cowl doors along their full R length (from leading to trailing edges) with the doors closed. If the R distance is not between 0.040 and 0.160 in. (1.02 and 4.06 mm) for at R least 80 percent of the length, and between 0.040 and 0.20 in. (1.02 R and 5.1 mm) for the remainder of the length, adjust the fan cowl R doors.
R NOTE : A distance of 0.236 in. (6.0 mm) is permitted between the fan

C. Removal of Components
CAUTION : DO NOT TURN THE ADJUSTA-KEEPER ASSEMBLY CLEVIS (EYEBOLT) WITH A
_______ TOOL. IF YOU TURN THE CLEVIS WITH A TOOL, YOU WILL BREAK THE KEEPER-ASSEMBLY-HOUSING GUIDE. IF THE GUIDE IS BROKEN, THE CLEVIS CAN TURN, AND IT MAY NOT ALIGN CORRECTLY WITH ITS MATING LATCH WHEN THE FAN COWL DOORS CLOSE. THIS INCORRECT ALIGNMENT MAY CAUSE THE LATCH AND CLEVIS NOT TO ENGAGE CORRECTLY AND PREVENT THE LATCHES FROM CLOSING. IF THE LATCHES ARE NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY, THE FAN COWL DOORS MAY OPEN IN FLIGHT. USE ONLY HAND FORCE TO MAKE SURE THE CLEVISES DO NOT TURN.
(1) Remove the nuts (5) and (45), the washers (10) and (40), the shims (15), the retainers (20) and (35), the bolts (25), and the shear pins (30), from the left fan cowl.

D. Close the Fan Cowl Doors
CAUTION : USE YOUR HANDS TO CLOSE THE FAN COWL LATCHES. IF YOU USE YOUR
_______ FOOT OR A TOOL TO CLOSE THE LATCH YOU CAN DAMAGE THE LATCH.
(1) Install the nuts (5) and (45), the washers (10) and (40), the retainers (20) and (35), the bolts (25), and the shear pin (30). Do not install the shims (15).
