A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
4. Procedure

A. Opening of the fan cowl doors R CAUTION : DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER ON THE LATCH TRIGGER TO RELEASE THE
_______ R LATCH. THE SCREWDRIVER BLADE COULD PUSH THE HOOK SPRING AND R MOVE IT BEHIND THE ROLLER. DAMAGE TO THE HOOK SPRING CAN OCCUR. R IF THE HOOK SPRING IS DAMAGED, THE LATCH HANDLE WILL NOT HANG R DOWN CORRECTLY.
R (1) Push the trigger to release the latch handle.
(2) Pull the latch handles down to disengage the latch hooks from the right door.
(3) Move the lock rings to release the hold-open rods from the stow brackets.
(4) Extend the hold-open rods: CAUTION : BOTH HOLD-OPEN RODS ON BOTH DOORS MUST BE ENGAGED WHEN DOOR

(a) Extend the hold-open rods to hold the doors open at either the 40-degree or 55-degree position.
(5) Attach the hold-open rods to the attach brackets on the engine case.
